It seems to me that I have missed an interesting discussion. -
Being a member of this board for only a short time, I do (did) of course not know every picture that is (was) posted on it. According to European ( or should I say German) standards there were hardly any offensive pics on it. On every kiosk you can see more objectionable pics. But I'm quite aware that US standards are different. And proboards is US, isnt't it?

Yes in the US you can kill, maim or otherwise dismember someone with as my h blood and gore as you can imagine. But show a bit of the human body, and you're all of a sudden a deviant. That is the difference.

Yes , I find it very strange that violence and killing whether in the news or fiction,is judged to be suitable viewing and sex and nudity is not.

I do agree with what you're all saying - but under the proboards guidelines, we wouldn't be able to post violent pictures either, or anything to intimidate other people or really just anything unpleasant of any nature (although how Billy's bum could be judged unpleasant is still beyond me!!)
;D

Here is my (totally made-up and self-serving) explanation for this American trait: The men who immigrated to the US in the past were of course the most aggressive and assertive males from their respective countries, or else they would have just stayed home. This gene is on the Y chromosome though, so it has only been passed down to American men. Women who immigrated to the US wanted to help create a new country and increase its population, so naturally they were interested in matters of human relations. Unfortunately men are still in mostly charge, so we are permitted to watch gushing blood and exploding body parts, and not beautiful human bodies engaged in repopulation techniques.

I did not see any posts shortly before the big clamp down so don't really know what the precise objection could be . I cannot see, like you numbat, how anyone could object to Billy's beautiful young B*m but I thought I saw a comment about a gif from TPOTE . If this is the same as a clip I saw on Youtube , then it was a bit steamyand perhaps parents might think it unsuitable for young children . Then again is Rooftop meant for children? BTW the comment I made about violence was not criticising RT in anyway for its action . Complaints were made and you had to comply!!! Well done to everyone for their fast action to protect RT.
I was speaking about the attitude of television in general. To me violence and killing is far worse than nakedness and making love.

Frannie, if you start at the beginning of this thread you will see what we were told by pro-boards.
Basically we were told that we'd been showing "adult content" and the example given was a photo of Billys bum.
Rueful had a further look at their rules (i think she posted a link)and it became apparent that they could object to many and varied things if they wanted too including pornography, violence, intimidation etc, etc.
Unfortunately we are a pro-boards site and so we have to abide by their rules.
But i most certainly agree with everyone's comments regarding the double standards between violence and nudity in general.
