I would love to hear Rufus read Zen Someone mentioned that there are some more Zen audiobooks around than only "Così fan tutti", but the narrator doesn't seem to be all that good - while Rufus is nothing less than a genius as a narrator. And no, these are not my Rufus-tinted glasses. I'm very very very picky when it comes to audiobook speakers, but he's perfect. Like your idea, too, chocolate. It's worth a try after all!

thank you, walt and kate, I definitely will write today/tomorrow to audible with that suggestion. If someone else feels he wants to join, I think will be beneficial. I hope this is something Rufus would like to do as well, but that is a separate issue which is not in my power to investigate. I have my glasses all the time, kate! the world just seems better when I look at it through them.

There are 4 Zen audiobooks, done pretty recently. The actor Michael Kitchen is the narrator.
Cosi Fan Tutti Blood Rain A Long Finish End Games
I was one of the people who commented that I didn't like the narration, but I haven't actually listened to any of the full books. I only listened to the sample clips available on Audible.com. I did not like the style of reading, and that was a great surprise to me, because I love Michael Kitchen. He's a fabulous actor and my second favorite narrator, after Rufus. But in the sample clips his rhythm was all wrong. I suppose I could have downloaded one to see if it got better as the book went along, but I didn't.
At any rate, I don't want to discourage you too much Chocolate, but Kitchen recorded them as recently as 2010, so they may continue using him.

The language of the Zen books is rather special, so I can imagine they are not easy to narrate - but as Rufus has proved often that he does a great job with complex books, he shouldn't have problems with Zen either

Okay, I'll use my charms and enthusiasm in that letter, and if audible wants to listen they could do so. If not, I will practice my English for a very good cause. What's to loose anyway. Honestly, I do not want to do a bad favor to the other narrator, I just will not buy those books, as simple as that. I prefer paper books especially when the language and the writing is specific, but will definitely make an exception for Rufus'es audio. If I can buy Bond's audio when I have them ALL already, and even half of the books on paper... think about my determination With your wishes for luck to my mission ... chocolate is on her way to battle

I agree with Rueful about Michael Kitchen - love him as an actor but he's not right to read Zen. He's too clipped - maybe too English? It doesn't flow. Rufus is a lot warmer and because he understands the character would read it differently I think.

I'm a bit late to say so choc, but I think it is a good idea too. Well its worth a try! I have seen recently in a charity shop an audio book for Vendetta, but I cannot remember who was reading it, other than it wasn't Rufus obviously. I seem to think that it was an older one than 2010. I am banging my head against the wall now that I can't remember. It was a couple of weeks ago. I might call back but I guess it won't be there anymore. I don't think it was Michael Kitchen, but this is bugging me now!! Anyway, no-one would be as good as Rufus narrating the Zen series! He does do a superb job with the James Bond ones! Superb enthusiasm choc, Rufus is lucky to have such faithful fans. Would be lovely if it came to fruiton.

robela, thank you for your support, and good to have you still around . okay, to sum up: -i have sent to audible in 3 of the dept s, wasn't sure which one to choose ; -i tried to send to penguin books in their audio dept, but the address they have provided on the site was apparently non-functioning, so the mail came back. i have to figure out to which other of their addresses to resend my mail. penguin's website is horrific (at least for my liking), too much (bad-organised) info. BUT!!! - i also sent to Silksoundbooks, to their sales dept. Rufus has done one audio for them www.silksoundbooks.com/performers/rufus-sewell/ and I was also impressed with the site- simple, stylish and just beautiful! (my new favorite audio place) So, if anyone has any other fresh ideas about that, please let me know. p.s. just adding- i think if someone feels he wants to send the same request to the same or different places i think will be very good; i can post what i wrote (if you promise to go easy on my mistakes ). I am absolutely not sure if Rufus will accept any new opportunities in this area, or if my letters will be read or heard, but like with our Fb letter with request for pics, you never know if you don't try... i hope we can all say again good words for "our women power" after a while.

There's the first answer to my emails regarding new audio books for Zen; it is from AudioGo (the BBC audio books):
"Dear ......,
Thank you for your message below. Apologies for the slight delay in replying – I’ve discussed the issues raised with our Editorial team.
The Editorial team advise that the first of our Zen readings was recorded some years ago, long before the recent television adaptation, and that the author was delighted with the choice of Michael Kitchen as reader. It is very unlikely, however, that we would go on and re-record a title with a different reader – sorry!
Many thanks for your message and for your interest in Audiogo.
Peter Royle"
I did not expect anything different from the BBC, just a person ought to try.
I am still waiting for any other replies.
