Then you are in good company, since most everybody here seems to feel the same. We are a lot more forgiving of Rufus's evil deeds than we would be of most bad guys.

:)oh Zenina, I've seen the Illusianist when I wasn't quite so 'Rufus Aware'. I remember thinking how handsome Crown Prince Leopold was and why was she hankering atfter Edward Norton. The dvd belonged to my ex-partner. I will have to be nice to him now so that he will send the dvd to me.

Is it only me ? but I always thought that Eisenheim and Sophie were the truly evil ones. They plotted to frame the prince for a non existent murder. They could have just gone away together. As it was, the Prince's options were either be charged with a murder that didn't happen or commit suicide. And everyone Ooh Aahed over Eisenheim and Sophie even the"good" police man. Love conquering all isn't always good !

I agree with you, Frannie!
Zenina, when you see it, watch for the scene when Leopold argues with Sophie and she storms out - he follows her and hurls a chair to the floor in anger as he does. Unfortunately, that was added by Rufus on the spur of the moment, and it turned out to be not a prop but a VERY expensive antique!! OOPS!

Just finished watching The Illusionist. I found it online to watch as I decided that I wouldn't be able to stay up until 1.30 am and then for another 2 hours to watch it on ITV. I think Rufus was really good in it (well I'd say he was the best thing in it actingwise) and after getting used to his moustache and the funny beard, I really liked his looks. He definitely looked much better than Edward Norton He was not exactly a nice man but in the end I really was not happy about the way Eisenheim and Sophie had staged everything and driven him to suicide. GE2 - the chair incident - I think I remember. Have to watch that scene again. ;D All in all I liked the film although I don't know if I had watched it without Rufus in it. But that's one more good thing - I watch films I usually wouldn't (due to whatever reasons).

Zenina, I bet you're not the only one! ;D
That attitude should be posted in the "Rufusitis-thread" - or is it already there?

You still talking about broken chairs here, I see no tragedy in it. In the castle where were filmed these scenes, the filming is very frequent, and everything is very well insured. It´s possible that the furniture was not original, it could be a replica.

it could be a replica. Apparently not!

Although I hope he didn't get in too much trouble for it... *whips out DVD* Looks like I've got an excuse to watch it over again!

Didn't actually end up watching it over until now. It amuses me to watch him being all self-righteous and snobby. XD And I just looove the tension in the sword scene; it's almost tangible.

Great find, Dippy! I've never seen this either! Love that it shows him with his camera and love the mentioning of Charlie II between him and Paul!
