Could any of you talented Rufgirls help me get a photo of our hero (do you call it avatar) up with my username? If I joined the photobucket site could I save some of the gorgeous pics? I haven't a clue how to go about it.

Robela, to add an avatar, click your own name on the side of one of your posts (or the button that says "profile" under the 'P' in The Rooftop logo). Then click "Modify profile." About midway down the "Personal Information" section, you'll see a blank box that says "Avatar URL." This is where you will paste the URL (website address) of the picture you want to use. To get the url for the picture you want, right click it, and click on Properties at the bottom. Copy the Address (url), making sure you get the whole thing (usually ends in .jpg or .gif). Paste the link in the box for Avatar URL. This will work with any other Rufus photo that allows hot linking (meaning you're borrowing it from another site) --just copy the URL and paste it. However, if the person who posted this picture or avatar ever removes the picture from their photobucket or whatever account they are keeping it in, you will lose the picture. So if you have a photobucket account, you might want to save a copy there under your own file name. If you do that, then copy and paste that URL link instead of the original. Also, if you're borrowing someone else's, you might want to send them a PM to ask if they mind. (If you want to practice putting one in, you can copy mine and change it later if you find one you like better.) If you're copying the URL of a full-sized picture instead of something that's already sized as an avatar, you will have to change the height and width. They can't be any bigger than 100 x 100 pixels. The size of the picture is shown on the same Properties page as the URL. When you've finished, click Modify Profile at the bottom of the page. If the proportions look wrong, go back to modify profile and try changing the height and width. I actually use a proportion calculator because I'm hopeless with math. www.basic-mathematics.com/proportion-calculator.html . Right click the picture, click Properties, and look at the original size. Plug those numbers into the left boxes of the caclulator. In the right boxes, put 100 into the box that is next to the bigger original size and leave the other blank. Click calculate. Those are the numbers you use as height and width. Good luck!

Excellent! You just need to adjust the size. If you right click your avatar, and go to properties, you will see that it says it's 65 x 65. Mine is 75 x 100. So you can go back to your profile, and change the dimensions for the width to 75 and the height to 100.
