Good news that it has been sold abroad but I want it on t.v. here.
Hope some other t.v. company will pick it up. None of it seems to make sense when it has been so well received by critics and public.
Thank you Rai for the information. We are all keeping our fingers and toes crossed and have also written to Left Bank Pictures and ITV and Channel 4 and also complained bitterly to the BBC. There are a lot of people challenging the BBC's decision here in England. It is so not fair.

Thanks Dippy and Rai. Interesting paragraphs in that Guardian article: Zen's demise has left some drama executives mystified as it was well-received by most critics.
Ironically, one of the BBC's exhibits at BBC Showcase is a sign which tells the international buyers that: "Zen beat the broadcaster's slot average share and comfortably ranked first in its time slot."Which makes Cohen's decision even more nonsensical. In times like these, do we want a BBC1 controller who appears to ignore sure-fire winners for ideological reasons? I think not. (Oh, and I see the same bland comment has been put out in their press relaease as was sent to everyone who complained)

This all sounds encouraging. I plan to send an e mail to AH in support.

I am very encouraged by Andy Harries comments. I am glad to see that Rufus has a producer that will not throw him out with the bath water. I am also amazed at the almost line up announced by the BBC. The titles do not even sound exciting. If that is "blue collar" I am Jennifer Lopez. It sounds very much like inexpensive rethreads. I do not know what happened to the station that brought me the fine drama I have enjoyed on PBS for years.
That is very sad. I can only hope that Zen gets another chance.

Thanks Dippy and Rai Lets hope talks are going well for Andy Harries. News articles like the one on the Guardian can only help his cause. If only the broadcasters realised the great stories that are yet to come in the series. The very next book Dead Lagoon is my favourite and I think would pull in a huge audience and with the likes of Blood Rain, And Then You Die and Medusa still out there waiting to be made I hope one of the broadcasters realises what a gift this is from the BBC. I also added my complain to the BBC. I'm in 2 minds about emailing Andy Harries. Part of me thinks he's probably had enough emails now and is better spending his time talking to prospective broadcasters. Oh the agony of not knowing

Thanks for your information, Dippy and Rai! I'm glad to hear that Left Bank Pictures have not given up to produce another Zen season yet. Considering the news about BBC's international sales conference their strategy about Zen is absolutely incomprehensible to me.

Good news that it has been sold abroad but I want it on t.v. here. Um, i'm trying not to project all my stress on everyone else, but unless i'm sadly mistaken it has been on tv in the UK - and only in the UK!!! Having the series sold abroad is not only good news for all those many board members who don't live in the UK, but is also an indication of the marketability of the series as an ongoing project. I've watched it online and have the DVD, but Zen being shown in as many countries as possible is not only great for the series, but also for Roof's international exposure, both of which will hopefully lead to more great opportunities for him. I'm so impressed reading about everyone's hard work on the emails. Thanks so much ladies. Hopefully we can get some good news soon. Surely he deserves it!!

Thanks Angie - much appreciated. I am doing my very best to find a new home. It's a major blow but we are not out of it yet. Great that you received a reply at all, and then one that gives reason for keeping up hope Numbat, if I understood the Facebook Zen group correctly, at least part of the series has been on TV in some Scandinavian countries (I think Sweden and Denmark) and was received very well by the audience. It will also be on in Germany if they ever finish synchronisation

Thank you Dippy and Rai. Zen is such a role for Rufus, he sparkles, and you can see the sheer enjoyment he has for this role. It was the role that was made for him. A debonair leading man, handsome, virile, charismatic, and charming. That cool hand in the pocket walk of his, very endearing, very alluring and very tempting qualities. His fans appreciate and revel in his individualistic roles. Can any of us love him more than we already do. Love Ophelia Attachments:

Um, i'm trying not to project all my stress on everyone else, but unless i'm sadly mistaken it has been on tv in the UK - and only in the UK!!! ... not only, soon in Italy too! I hope it will get a large audience and rating from the public, so perhaps Mediaset will think to produce some else episode, who knows?
