You're not wrong to have your own opinion, Lizap! Also, don't forget that our blind Rufus love often leads some of us to watch and accept films that we wouldn't otherwise touch with a 100-foot pole (Extreme Ops, in my case). So Tip and I might just be reading depth into the role because Rufus added so much to it. I mean, would I have watched beyond the initial couple of eps of Eleventh Hour if he weren't in it? Doubtful. Luckily it's improved, but I wouldn't have given it the chance if I wasn't watching for him. So you may be right and we are probably biased.

- about extreme ops, make it a 200-foot pole for me.
- about EH - i certainly would not have toughed it out, had it not been for that green eyed guy that somehow seemed to float above the whole production, talent-wise..
- and i am sure that, was it not for my own iris/jasper experience, i would share lizap's opinion wholeheartedly. it's kind of like hiring robert redford to play the 5 minutes janitor role.

Again a little late here, but better late than never huh I do like this "fluffy romantic" movie. So sad though that Rufus's part is so small and that he is again sort of a bad guy He looks great though (and his voice * sigh*...) and I really felt for him when Kate Winslet threw him out...but what did she see in Jack Black for Pete's sake Didn't they have a 'yummie' American actor to play that part? Now on Jude Law...I too find he looked delish yes...sorry for that

Yep , i agree with everything you girls say!! It IS an addiction to the green eyed wonder ;D I know that I wouldn't have bothered with 11th hour after 2nd episode if it wasn't for Roofie ... and my addiction carried me through to the end AND to record it AND am now watching it again on its re-run As for ex ops ...would I have watched if it were any one else ? I don't think so but he is so beautiful It's all a bit perverted ?? Or is it pathetic ??

Neither perverted nor pathetic, Frannie! Just evidence of your very, very good taste!

But, with every viewing, I wish that someone would have realized that Rufus and Jude should have been switched! And it's not that I don't like Jude Law, because I've enjoyed several of his movies, but I can definitely picture Rufus as Graham and Jude as Jasper. I do agree that Rufus' part is WAY too small for his scene-stealing presence (obvious), but he did an excellent job with what he had to work with. Let's face it, Rufus would make a one-line character great, haha.

Rufus should have got Jude's part. (I'm sorry but Jude Law is not a patch on Roof in looks, acting, sex appeal, screen presence or general talent)

I agree dp, Jude Law is ok to look at but has nothing on Roof in terms of acting chops and grown up sex appeal (not that i'm at all biased). The scene that made the least sense to me was when Iris threw Jasper out when he travelled half way across the world to see her (maybe it had something to do with him still marrying whatsername!!!!) I mean, she should have at least had sex with him before she threw him out - girl power and all that!!!! (not that i'm at all biased )

Nope, this is a non-biased forum. Yeah, I too was thinking that as long as Iris knew that her new found "gumption" was there to stay, then why not have one last evening with Jasper? Couldn't hurt! LOL Numbat, I do wish you had been supervising the script on this movie, hehehe.

Hahahaha pixie - Roof would be in no end of sex scenes if any of us had anything to do with the scripts for his movies, that's for sure!!!! R: Um, i'm not really sure having sex while hanging over the edge of a building is really feasible do you?N: Sorry Rufus, i'm not asking, i'm telling. Do we need to go over this one more time - now who is in charge of scriptwriting and who is supposed to do what the scriptwriter says?

This is a great thread, first because I actually do like the movie (mostly because I am a HUGE Kate Winslet and Eli Wallach fan, they had great chemistry in the movie), and second because I got to see Rufus, even for a few minutes. I agree that Rufus and Jude's roles should have been switched.
I just have one question - why is Jude Law, who is English and living in London in the winter snow so TANNED in this movie? He looks like he just got off a plane from Hawaii......other than that, I thought the Kate Winslet/Eli Wallach scenes were wonderful. I could have done without Jack Black and whoever played his girlfriend (she was in a Knight's Tale, and I thought she was pretty wooden then too).

I taped holiday. I watched the scenes with Eli Wallach and Kate Winslet. Was very disappointed with how little there was of Rufus and after the first 10 minutes of Jude and Jack Black fast forwarded.
I did not know Rufus Sewell before EH but I am very happy to have seen him as Jacob Hood. Too bad the show did not live up to the talented actor. But he did create a character that I will not forget.

Is it only me or does Jude Law ALWAYS fail to live up to his full potential on screen?

Have to disagree on that point. Athough I'm not a huge fan, thought Law was rather good in Cold Mountain and that one (Talented Mr. Ripley?) with Matt Damon. He did okay in The Holiday, where to be fair, he was given some hokey lines here and there. Besides, very few actors are as good as Kate Winslet, so lets not compare there, it just wouldn't be fair! (Hee, hee.) Not completely appropo to this discussion, but, I don't usually think blonde men much attractive, but I can find Jude Law to be sexy at times, but maybe that's only because I know him to be such an easy tart? Is that very wrong of me??? Ha, ha, ha...
