Hi chocolate, judypatooty and rueful, Glad you liked the cut scenes clips again. After seeing them again, they don't necessarily have to be there to move the story along, but the one with Zen and Silvio talking about their fathers was such a heartfelt moment by Rufus it really was a shame to leave it out. It really gives his character depth. Also, the scene with Nadia where Ruf got his "way" with her was very satisfying to see indeed. Well, now everyone can go out and get the DVD and see all of them uncut to their hearts content. ;-D

Sure, it doesn't really do anything for moving the plot forward, but I loved it because it was so touching. By the way, PrairieGirl, a German acquaintance of mine started watching your Zen snippets on youtube - I think there's another fan in the making

I think we haven't had this one yet: Masterpiece Mystery! Zen: Ratking Consider this series the anti-“Rescue Me.” The incredibly good-looking Rufus Sewell (who last summer played the memorable Tom Builder in “The Pillars of the Earth” miniseries) suits up as the Italian cop Zen who isn’t afraid to get his manicured hands dirty – or to live with his mom – as he bring justice to a corrupt Italian district. If your guy-love runs toward the James Bond, secret-agent type, brew up a cup of really strong espresso and press your best Armani shirt while enjoying the final installment of this action-packed detective series as Zen is forced to deal with a new boss (Michael McElhatton) who doesn’t approve of his interoffice romance with the alluring secretary Tania (Caterina Murino).(The "manicured hands" made me laugh!)

Very nice, Kate. Thanks for posting it!
(The manicured hands makes me laugh too, but for a different reason. Yesterday I was looking at the Victoria Station photos and I noticed in one closeup how filthy his nails were. Quite proper characterization for a cabbie, but I thought it was a funny contrast to how beautiful his hands usually look.)

I was just thinking about something. I know it's very early in the game still, but I know there's usually a few nominations for PBS series at the Emmys and the Golden Globe Awards. I was just wondering how amazing it would be if Rufus and the series were to wind up being nominated and end up winning. What a slap in the face for Danny Cohen that would be!!

Hi Prarie Girl, Thanks for the information. I know that PBS needs to drum up the $$$, but I wish they wouldn't do it at the expense of the show lengths - when we **only** have 3 (snuffle) episodes-especially when they are *so* good!

I'll have to go back and check those pics now, as I'm having trouble imagining him with dirty nails ;D I was just wondering how amazing it would be if Rufus and the series were to wind up being nominated and end up winning. What a slap in the face for Danny Cohen that would be!! Keeping my fingers crossed that they will show enough sense to nominate Zen!

That was the first thing I noticed about Roofs cab driver - dirty nails! So different to how beautiful his hands are usually.

Hi, justin! Welcome! I think pretty much everyone here agrees with you. It was very short-sighted of the BBC to cancel the series. Here are links to a couple of facebook pages that have been started to show support for the series. www.facebook.com/DetectiveZenwww.facebook.com/pages/More-Zen-Please/240737459290578Please feel free to start a thread in the Members section to introduce yourself to everyone. We always like to welcome new members.

Someone posted a nice review of Zen on their blog, and I'm linking it mainly because it has a 1966 picture of Catherine Spaak, who plays Zen's mother. She's gorgeous, and you can see the bone structure that will allow her to keep her beauty as a mature woman. cinebeats.blogsome.com/2011/07/18/zen-on-pbs/Here's part of the review: I rarely write about modern films or new television shows but if you happen to follow me on Twitter or Facebook you’ve probably noticed that I occasionally mention movies and TV shows that don’t warrant a full post on Cinebeats. My latest obsession is the BBC import currently playing on PBS titled, ZEN (2011).
ZEN is a modern day cop show starring the handsome & talented Rufus Sewell, who should be a household name by now. Sewell’s character is a Venetian detective named Aurelio Zen and he gets to wear expensive Italian suits while solving crimes in Italy....
