Greetings from Seattle,
Lately I've been a little obsessed with Rufus Sewell. It all started when I rented the Tourist on my Apple TV. His part seemed a bit "blink and you'll miss him (he would have been great in the Johnny Depp role and would have had better chemistry with Angelina Jolie). But he's so handsome it left me wanting more of him. So off I went to the internet in search of pictures, news articles and some how I've found my way here.
I'm not new to Rufus and remember seeing him in Martha Meet Frank...... I was a big Joe Fiennes fan....my boyfriend at the time was the spitting image of Joe....so Rufus during this period did not exist for me. I was too busy swooning over Joe to really notice Rufus (gasping in horror ). This DVD was the first one I purchased in my rediscovery of Rufus. Since my love for Joe had long since dissipated, I was able to be more open minded about Rufus' performance. This time around I found Rufus to be hilarious and the most interesting character in the movie. While watching I pressed pause to get stills of Rufus and I must say even though he had on that hideous raincoat he was still gorgeous.
My next purchase was Shakespeare Retold........I loved....loved...loved Rufus in this movie....I only bought this because I read in an interview that Rufus said Petrucchio was the most like him of all the characters he played. I just wanted to get a sense of the real Rufus (he is my muse ).........He was definitely in his element and so funny..... I wish he would do more comedies.......
I rented Dark City.........and all I have to say is unexpected cute bum shot.... I didn't really care for this movie....it was a bit too ambitious.....Rufus' did a great job with what he was given.....Watching him run and jump around, I thought he might hurt himself because I was so use to seeing him in less physical parts.
I'm getting a bit long winded and I didn't even mention Zen or Pillars of the Earth (will save my comments for those threads). I'm glad there is a positive place to discuss Rufus and his work.... I think he is the most talented and underrated actor of our time..... I wish everyone would notice what we see.
