Great series. Looking forward to series 2. Be wonderful if Rufus was cast as Stannis Baratheon. Also got a return affection for Sean Bean in the series, had been missing for sometime. I totally agree Ophelia, it was a great series and to wait a whole year for series 2 is going to be a drag! It would be a wonderful opportunity if Rufus landed this role. With regards to Sean Bean, he is not one of my favourite actors, but I thought he was perfect as Lord Stark, the only one I didn't think was casted well was Mark Addy as King Robert. Now we may be curious if Rufus would be willing to play that part - again a costume film after ALVH? IMHO, if he is offered the part, he should seriously, definitely, consider going for it, what an opportunity, this is TPOTE x 100! |

the only one I didn't think was casted well was Mark Addy as King Robert. Totally agree Ruthie. Kept seeing him in the Tesco advert. Should have got Brian Blessed, he would have done a hearty, king-sized portrayal. Love Ophelia  |

Hi Tipou, Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy television series created for HBO. The series is based on author George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of seven planned fantasy novels, the first of which was called A Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones has been extremely well received, The series has been picked up for a second season and maybe our Rufus will be in the next series.  Love Ophelia |

I started watching the first season- "Game of Thrones", and I really like it. I haven't read those books, but the style of the show is very good- modern medieval (more of a fantasy medieval probably) with some wonderful make-up and CGI effects! I think if Rufus is offered that role it will be a great change for him, and it will also rise his career and profile. With his eyes and facial features, not to mention that he is an exceptional actor, I easily see him fit in the show perfectly.
I would definitely say some prayers for that to come true.

There are a few others that are floating for Stannis and are a much better fit IMO plus I also feel they are better/stronger actors.
Mark Strong
Richard Armitage
Rufus Sewell
are some of the other leading candidates. I feel Richard Armitage has would handle the role best out of those mentioned. Very much a brooding character.

Richard Armitage is the guy from Spooks?
I feel thats unlikely because he is currently filming the Hobbit, but agree he would be a very good choice. Also does he currently have enough US exposure to justify it?
Mark Strong would be another I would be quite happy with. Dont really know Rufus Sewell's work

Rufus Sewell was in Zen last year, the best thing BBC put on the telly.
I'm not sure if this means anything to anyone, does it mean that he may be on tv again? Does anyone know anything about this?

I can't wait to see the final verdict (if Rufus is involved in the final verdict, of course). I overheard a woman in Best Buy today who was putting in a pre-order for the Game of Thrones season 1 dvd. It's such a huge hit! I've never seen it myself, but with such a great reception as this show's gotten, I think it would be great for Rufus!

In 2010 I was working for the last "Conan". During that time i witnessed some very interesting developments. I am afraid that particular film is going to be a huge disappointment, but the matter is the main actor, who was going to be Conan, was a very unknown name at that time, and people were very doubtful, and cruel making some nasty comments that he wouldn't manage to look and act convincingly. All of them who were so doubtful, are now shockingly surprised that not only he was very good, but also because the same actor plays now (well, whenever Game of Thrones aired on HBO) exceptionally well as Khal Drogo. (the whole show is very much not in me preferred genre, but I do appreciate everything about it- very conceptually well done and acted, and of course Sean Bean...) The more I watch the series the more I WISH, WISH, WISH and HOPE, HOPE, HOPE!!! Rufus will be in the second season. I do not know anything about the discussion mentioned above and the story for the next series, but I do know one thing- Rufus Sewell is going to be at home in Game of Thrones. A lot like he was at home as Lord Marke. Well, I am not sure his part, if he is offered, will be to play a good character, but in this show most characters are very complex,and it is difficult to distinguish good from bad. Oh, God of the Movies, please make it happen!!! |

I think there has been some tweets on Twitter about who will get parts in this and Rufus' name has been mentioned!! I didn't know what it was they were talking about!! Hope he is in the running for a part in this and it is not just people discussing their 'would be' selections for the roles. I have never heard of it! Please forgive my ignorance but what is HBO, can you get the show in UK?  |

Plus, don't forget the comment he made in at least one interview that the roles people think he is perfect for are the ones he usually doesn't want. I'll still cheer if he is cast in this, though!  |
