Just looked at the pics again and noticed I'd forgotten to mention the most important thing: your son's a very good-looking young man!

Just a few pics from my day out last Wednesday (the one with the bus/train/bus/steam train/ bus/bus/train/bus journeys - no wonder I was tired afterwards!): The steam train I travelled on from the little seaside town of Swanage to the ruins of Corfe Castle. This is a much-cherished heritage railway. The castle itself, taken through the gatehouse entrance. A clearer view. A view from the ruins over the lovely Dorset countryside. Closer to the Keep. Another view over the countryside (the blue sky hadn't disappeared, I was just shooting into the sun) Through an arch into the Keep. A view over the village of Corfe, from almost the highest part of the ruins. Back to the seaside: Swanage Bay And another. It was late afternoon and getting chilly, hence the lack of bathers! One of the gulls that kept me company while I waited for the next bus. Uncle Cullen got to Swanage before me!

Ohhh, those are so beautiful! Looks like a lovely day out. Love the steam train (for all the Harry Potter fans: doesn't it look like the Hogwarts Express? ) My favourites are the ones taken through arches and other openings. Breathtaking colours!

Love the steam train (for all the Harry Potter fans: doesn't it look like the Hogwarts Express? ) It does! That's awesome! Gorgeous pics, GE2!!! When I was younger, I saw a pic of the Swanage Castle ruins and I always thought of them when reading The Famous Five books when the children would spend their days at the ruins on Kirrin Island. For some reason Swanage seemed to match the island's ruins perfectly to me (except for the fact that the ones in the books were on an island, of course). Awww I miss England

Thank you, ladies! Meg, the castle is actually 6 miles out of Swanage, at a very pretty little village called Corfe. There is a TPOTE connection - in her feud with Stephen, Queen Maude/Matilda's dependants held the castle. (Don't think Tom would have visited it, though! )

Ahh, I see now! Sorry, I missed that completely. That area looks so beautiful, and I love the TPOTE connection! That's so cool!

Gorgeous pictures, GE2! What a lovely day out you had. (I'm sure my father and mother have ridden that train. My dad was a fanatic about steam railroads and knew the history of virtually every line in the world. And he'd ridden on just about any line that was still running.)

Love the pics GE2 - It doesn't look like too bad a day after all. Even if you missed the guys from the inbetweeners! KMK I saw the Hogwarts Express earlier this month. I slept at the station for a couple of nights (not on the platform I swear! : unlike GE2's sunny weather is rained persistently.
