LTM - I loved your photos and I agree with the others in saying that they look pretty professional to me, the one with the fruit stall makes you want to stick your hand into the photo and pick a fruit! I'm extremely lucky that I have been to Rome several times, mainly when I was younger as we have family and friends there, but didn't really appreciate it until I went with hubby a few years back and we both fell in love with the place , especially the Trevi Fountain, just loved to sit there and watch the people throwing the coins in the fountains, the water trickling down it and soaking up the atmosphere. When we visited the Sistine chapel we weren't allowed to take any photos and you were lucky to take some of the Swiss Guard because that was a no no too! We climbed the steps at St Peters (as I am claustrophobic) and agree that we definitely could have done with a top-up of oxygen at the top, think we rested for over half an hour before we ventured back down! Glad you enjoyed your trip and would recommend Rome to anyone whose not been, there is so much to see and fall in love with.

Just a little anecdote from my recent holiday at the house in France. Some friends of my daughters came over to stay for 10 days. We were sat in the garden after having lunch as we did most days when we did not go out, when we heard loud screams and my grandaughter Lily-Rose and her friend India came running out of the garage shouting snake, snake. India's dad immediately got up and ran into the garage and came out holding a snake: I had left the garage shutter open and the door to the downstairs of the house open. It was a very not sunny day and the snake it must have gone in for a bit of shade. Lily said it was curled up by the welsh dresser and she was barefoot about 4 inches away from it when she shaw it. I am very fearful of snakes and if I had seen it I think I would have had a heart attack. We were so lucky that Rob was there with us as he knew how to handle it and picked it up so that it couldn't bite him. After taking some photos he let it go at the bottom of our garden where there is a river. We have had the house since 2006 and I have never before seen any snakes. I knew there were snakes in the area but thought they would be just grass snakes or adders. This turned out to be a Montpellier snake and is the only venomous snake in e France. It is not thought to be a danger to humans as the venomous fangs are at the back of its mouth so it would have to get you right into its mouth to poison you. This is the garden and the river so it went back quite happily to where it came from. As it happens, we saw four snakes whilst we were there this time one grass snake (black) and two other I think Montpellier snakes although they were smaller ones. They can get up to 2 metres long.

Snakes! Yikes! Those animals absolutely give me the creeps. Very glad to hear that no one was harmed in that incident The river looks lovely, though!

Snakes don't bother me much, but I wouldn't want to unexpectedly find a poisonous one, either!
I don't have photos, but my son woke us up at 2 am the other morning because there was a bat in his bathroom! (he has since been released to the wild,-the bat, that is, not my son-to the relief of them both!) Great photos, btw...

The police came and chased the owl out with a broomstick ;D

I don't mind reading stories about snakes etc, but it would definitely spoil my holiday...

Went to the races over the weekend!! To be more precise - went to Oulton Park race track in Cheshire Friday/Saturday. My eldest son was racing his car in the 750 Stockhatch Championship. Paul and Dusty (the Saxo) qualified 18th in the heat and they finished 14th in the race (their highest position so far). They might have finished a bit higher (Paul was in 10th) before the race was stopped due to a nasty 2 car accident. This is what was left of one of the cars!!! We got a good view as the owner/driver was directly next to us in the paddock. The driver was fine (not a scratch) - was walking around chatting to people and having a cuppa. Tough bunch these racing drivers. Fortunately Dusty didn't sustain too much damage and was pretty much repaired on the spot before we left for the journey home. Here's PJ and Mr LTM checking out the damage. I think that's PJ's, 'I'm happy with it all' look!! I must admit I have a sense of relief when it's all over and I know he is ok. But boys will be boys and he loves it. Just Pembrey (Wales) and Cadwell Park (Lincolnshire) to go now....both long long trips.......on the road again, I can't wait to be on the road again (there's a song in there somewhere). ;D

Somehow I missed Robela's snake pictures. Eeeek! I'm glad no one was hurt. But your holiday spot looks beautiful, no wonder you like it so much.
Great pics, LTM. Congrats to PJ on his finish.
