Hi Peachy! Yes, the American version is called The Last King. It was done by A&E, HOWEVER I will warn you, it's not done in its entirety. I think in the American version, over an hour of the story is cut out. It's little bits scattered about that they cut which add up to over an hour's loss of material. I personally hate that they did that, but at least we have the proper full version on youtube. Eventually I'm going to find myself a multi-region DVD player (which a few of the other ladies own) so I can purchase the true full version as well as a few of Rufus' other works that have yet to be available here in the USA.

Oh , thanks for the info megagem. I hadn't realized that there were two different versions. Man a whole hour gone from the movie. Wonder if any of the good parts are cut out? Oh well, my hubby says that I am spending too much money on our dear Rufus anyway. I guess I can always watch it again on youtube.

No problem! I was warned by the ladies (thankfully) before my purchase. All the "important" bits are there (from what I remember), but things like the first moments with Charles and Barbara after their meeting where she says she's not ready to sleep with him is cut. Parts of the kiss between Charles and Lady Francis at the party are cut, as well as the part where Charles and Barbara watch her sleep. Those are the only Rufus bits I remember being cut, but then again I haven't watched Charles II in a while. Definitely buy it if you still want it, though. I still enjoy watching it despite the missing bits. I just don't understand why they would sell this version as a DVD. I understand cutting it for TV, but you'd think that with a DVD release, they would keep it in its entirety or at least add the deleted parts as some kind of bonus feature. Oh, speaking of bonus features, there is a great one on there mostly with Rufus which is fantastic!

I had a long weekend and decided to watch some more of Rufus' movies. I got to watch The Woodlanders and Helen of Troy. Loved them! Giles was such a loveable character. Never thought our Roofie could be so mean (Helen Of Troy), but still loved his performance. He is so versatile & complex! Then I rewatched IASL with the hubby. He actually liked it and I got him on board with Zen too. Looking forward to watching Vinyan tonight.

Meant to watch it the other night but all the kids are sick, so I have to divert my attention to them for a while. Guessing it's not kid friendly, hahaha!

Guessing it's not kid friendly, hahaha! Not really, no, and no friendly kids in it either. I hope your kids get well soon, Peachy!

That's what I thought, anyother. Thanks for the well wishes! They just have strep throat but they require a lot of attention when they get sick and I am happy to oblige. Can't wait to watch Vinyan though. I still have to get around to watching Middlemarch. Maybe I can tonight.

Ahhh Vinyan's a good one. I've been meaning to watch Middlemarch myself for about 3 months now, but keep misplacing it! I think I've been on here about 4 times now saying "I'm gonna watch it! This time I'm really gonna watch it!" And I keep losing it!

I finally got around to watching Vinyan and I have to say that this movie is a very strange film. Rufus of course was yummy as ever but I was confused most of the time. I think I need to watch it again and maybe I will understand it. And the kids in the movie were so creepy! Kind of reminded me of Children of the Corn. But on the other hand I have watched a couple of episodes of Middlemarch and I love it so far. Just needs more Rufus.
