It still just says in talks, PGG. A lot of the info on IMDB is submitted by members of the public, so it's not really "official" just because it's on there - sadly!

I realize it's still rumor stage, but I really like this idea I found on a film blog:

Alex Proyas is evidently looking to his Dark City star Rufus Sewell for his upcoming Paradise Lost. The film has Bradley Cooper as Lucifer, Benjamin Walker as the archangel Michael and Djimon Hounsou as the Angel of death. No intel yet on what role Rufus Sewell might play in the 3D, action-oriented retelling of the war between heaven and hell. Let’s have him be God, yes?

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but just because there are a lot of Tweets about it doesn't make it true! Virtually every item I've seen either Tweeted or put on a website all cite the mysterious Variety.com story which was pulled from Variety's website VERY quickly after it was posted.

Who knows?

I'm hoping that it is true that Rufus is in talks about appearing in the film, but on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be just a rumor (or someone's wishful thinking) that Variety published and then recalled.

It's a fantastic book, Kate. It was written by John Milton in 1667 (when Charlie was still alive! ;D ) and it's written entirely in verse, but it's a surprisingly easy read imho. It's about the fall of Lucifer from heaven and his tempting of Eve to get back at God for kicking him out of heaven and then the battle afterwards that takes place between him and the band of angels. If Bradley Cooper already has Lucifer and Benjamin Walker has Michael, that could leave Rufus to be in talks to play God, Gabriel, or even Adam.

Just waded through my google alerts. Boy it was snowing them this morning! and yes I read "in talks" and "Vanity removed information" quite alot so it looks a bit iffy! However - if he was offered and did accept a part in this surely he wouldn't play a baddie twice on the trot. The whole good against evil bit sounds rather familiar after reading ALVH so clearly he'd have to be some kind of Angel or a God or something. Another 3D one too - hmmm interesting. Well maybe if he was offered another 3D baddie he's turned it down and that's why Variety pulled the story

Also do we actually know which version of Paradise Lost is being filmed or is this all guess work? Now I watched a version of Paradise Lost last year which had nothing to do with Adam and Eve. It was a home movie style film where a group of teenagers were looking for some Lord in Papua New Guinea and stumbled across a tribe of cannibals. Now that's food for thought! ;D
