Thanks for all the links, everyone. Every site/poster that writes about his casting seems to be as excited about it as we do!  This tweet is just a standard announcement of the casting, from a French site, but I love that they call him "Le comédien britannique" and I think he'd be happy too. @orange_Cinema
Le comédien britannique Rufus Sewell rejoint la galerie de méchants du film à grand spectacle"Paradise Lost" Okay, just thought about this. It's being filmed in "motion capture", not live action, so I hope Rufus's looks aren't distorted too much.  Interesting information, GE2. Thanks for the link. The movies they listed on Wikipedia are all sort of cartoonish. But it still sounds like it'll be a great role for him. |

From what I understand, Motion Capture does not distort facial features, etc. It's used along with computer animation to record how the actors move, etc. Have you seen those suits the actors wear with all of the little white balls on them? Pretty cool, huh?  |

It must be because they are going to have to look like angels or, at least, fallen angels (Hmm... I wonder if they will look more like angels or demons?). I hope he has an impressive set of wings...of course, so he can fly realistically.

I loved this description of Samael ... Legendary Pictures announced on its Facebook page that Sewell has been cast in the movie as the archangel Sammael, a figure who has been described as "the prince of the devils" and "chief of Satans" and is also equated with the Angel of Death.  Me too Judy, and I just can't wait to see Rufus in this role...awesome  And as for the 'imposing talent' comment...well we all know that already don't we ladies? |

Hmm... They (the VS wings) don't seem very practical, especially the pink sparkly ones, for a fallen angel who's trying to wrest fate of humans from the Almighty, although, the black ones might be a little bit more...errr...evil.  |

and they gave the role I read for in Paradise Lost to Rufus Sewell... good to know I stood a chance!
So I wonder if they wanted Rufus for a different role but he held out for Sammael? (A familiar pattern, according to what he's said about other roles) That could explain why the negotiations seemed to take so long.
