So it's been over a year since we had Rufus in something new on our screens. But I have an idea of how to pass this long Rufus dry winter. How about the movie of the week again. But this time instead of picking blindly from the hat - I thought we could choose a movie based on something topical from the week. E.g. Alex Proyas is mentioned in an arcticle - we watch Dark City. Or there's a comment on twitter about a movie, or a pic from a movie appears in someones google alerts, or very cold weather is reported somewhere - Cold Comfort Farm. I suppose the more films we've watched the more tenuous the link will become. If there is more that one "nomination" in a week I'll put them in a hat and see which comes out. I'll rely on everyone to post their movie (it can be any screen work so series are included too) nomination in this thread and name whatever gave the inspiration. If we start now - keep your eyes peeled for ideas this week and I'll come back on Friday with the winning entry What about it folks - anyone interested?

Wiil we discuss the nomination in the following week? Yes, I thought perhaps if we comment in the original threads for each movie. That way it'll re-open the old threads and keep it all together. I forgot to add - I'll keep a list and cross them off so we don't have any repeats until we've seen everything. I have a nomination too - I just watched Hustle and Ash (Robert Glenister) was moaning about having a bad day in the office. It reminded me of Victoria Station. I also booked some train tickets from VC this week so it's quite topical for me at least. If anyone doesn't have this it's still available to download for just £1.99 here's the link warpfilmstore.com/pages/Victoria-Station.aspx

I like your nomination, Nell - I'm ashamed to confess that I still haven't downloaded this and should really take the chance to watch & discuss it now.

Ok so no more nominations this week means the first movie of the week is Victoria Station . I hope some of you join me in watching it again. Enjoy! If anyone has an nomination for next week don't be shy! Please post it in ths thread along with the reason.

In order to make things not so easy I have two nominations for the next movie of the week: ;D
Last weekend I attended a painting course - that reminded me of Mark Gertler in Carrington.
Not very inventive, but my secomd nomination has its seeds in the weather forecast: permanent freezing temperatures and Extreme Ops go very well along, or what do you think?

Extreme Ops is definitely a winter movie, walt! Carrington is a good choice, too. I've never finished watching that one and have a feeling that I should. (So what do we do if we have several nominations? Have a poll?)

I say we should go with Extreme Ops for two reasons: 1. It's winter right now for the majority of us Rooftoppers so a winter movie is a good idea. 2. It's not one we would watch without a reason, a cute but eminently forgettable movie.

I am all for Ex-Ops for next week . With next to no plot and no distractions, I can concentrate with my bar of galaxy bubbles, * on the beautiful Mr. Sewell, with occasional side glances at the delicious Mr. Graves . Yummy, Yummy. * forget the chocolate ! Who needs it?
