One for Itunes . one for amazon onr for Paypal and I won't go into online banking And computers are smarter than me when i tried to use the same password for more than one site . I was told I was already using it elsewhere ::)Duh ]I posted this as part of a thead elsewhere and GE2 suggested that many of you might have your own Password stories. I'm sure we would like to hear them.

You mean stories besides typing and retyping various combinations, trying to remember which one goes to which site, and eventually going through the process of resetting the password? ;D To solve that problem, and for the next burglar who comes into my home, I have helpfully typed a list of user names and passwords for all my accounts. That fact in itself would be embarrassing enough, but then my teenager comes in and mocks my choice of passwords. I didn't know passwords could be uncool.

(Thanks, Frannie!) I have a password at work that gets me into various computer things, but we also use another department's computer system, for which I have to have a slightly different username, but I use the same password. We have to change passwords every three months, but the two systems are about two weeks out of synch - so for a while, working between the two systems, I have to remember both passwords and I'm always putting the wrong one in. It doesn't help that the one where we have "guest" access doesn't allow us to change the password ahead of time, plus it kicks us out after 30 minutes of non-use - aaaarrrgh! I also hate when some website accounts want you to have at least one number, or one character, etc. = even more to remember! Don't even get me started on credit/debit card PIN codes!!

Is It Ever Our Turn? I'm sorry to inform you: No. You'll have to get your satisfaction from winning arguments with your M(o)B, I'm afraid. That sounds like one of those systems deliberately designed by the IT guys to make life miserable for the rest of us! If you ever see a confused-looking lady standing at the head of a long line in front of an ATM, mumbling 4-digit series of numbers to herself, please be patient with me!

A colleague of me has a programme which saves all password you have on your server ... he logs in with this programme with one password and e.g. he wants to amazon, so amazon is log in already for him ... no thanks... this is to dangerous for me .... I have the same problem at work - they make us change passwords every 4 months. BUT a guy I work with gave me a great tip to outwit the computer. You use your password, but put a letter at the end, starting with a. Technically, it's not a password you used before so the computer accepts it. I've successfully used this for quite a while now - I'm up to K. Much easier to remember one letter than a whole new password.
As for the rest of the Internet - I use the same one for everything. Not safe, but I don't do online banking and seldom do online shopping. Our bank PIN - it's the same one that the bank established for us when we opened the account in 1982.
I guess someday this will all catch up to me, but for now I'm happy not having to remember a bunch of different numbers.

I've heard of those programs too, PGG. I don't trust them either. If their website is accessed by criminals, they would get every account you have! At least a criminal actually has to get into my house to get my little list of passwords. Our bank PIN - it's the same one that the bank established for us when we opened the account in 1982. Will you be celebrating your PIN's 20th anniversary this year?

what stuns me is that it's so hard to find a password or online name someone else isn't already using. I thought I was fairly original in my thinking, but apparently, I'm just a copycat. this changing of passwords at work would make me quit my job, i think. it's bad enough when they change the numerical access code on the security lock for the building. we had to do that last week and the editor was the first one to forget the new code (which he chose himself.) i was feeling terrific there for a bout 5 minutes until I had to ask amazon to remind me of my password (yet again.)

I don't know ... I use Last Pass ... one of those website/services that stores all of your passwords. I had a problem a few months back, when some little website that I had forgotten I had registered at had a hacking problem. My login name and password were suddenly made public by hackers. Fortunately, they were responsible enough to notify their members of the attack. It wouldn't have been a problem except I had used that same login name/password combination at other websites. So I was suddenly faced with having a whole lot of website logins compromised by one hacking attack. I had to go to every major website I regularly used and change my password. Luckily, I didn't have any problems. That's the big problem. When you use the same login/password combination on more than one website. I had heard about LastPass and decided to start using it. It's been pretty cool. All I have to remember is ONE password - the one to Last Pass. Now I can set totally random and very difficult passwords at every website I register at . And I don't need to remember them at all. All I have to remember is that one password. Of course, I am crossing my fingers that no hackers are ever able to crack Last Pass!

I have work passwords and home passwords. People that really know me would not have trouble figuring them out. I really should be more creative. I have problems remembering my work pw after vacations, and yes they change every so often.
LOL Rueful. You sound like me with the list of your passwords.

Oh gosh, don't get me started on passwords! When I was proud owner of my very first bank card, I was happy to discover that my PIN was rather easy to remember ... and then I wanted to withdraw some money and, totally sure of myself, entered the wrong PIN three times in a row, rendering my card useless. I was so embarrassed at the time that I didn't want to admit my mistake and rather applied for another card with some additional features. Regulations required me to wait for three months for the new card, though. In the meantime, I went to get my money at the counter like in the good old days, which earned me lots of strange glances from the clerks ;D And here's my latest password blunder: my company has one large IT system for everything from paying wages to order processing to statistics. This consists of diverse subsystems for all the various applications which all come with separate passwords. Recently, I tried in vain to access my time-recording system, entering my password so often that I got locked out in the end and had to call the colleague who's in charge for access to this particular subsystem. He asked me to tell him the password I'd used (which was pretty embarrassing because I had used a kind of inside joke), tried it out, told me that my account was not blocked at all and finally gave me a new password because I insisted that it DID NOT WORK. I hadn't yet hung up when I noticed that I'd been trying to log on to another subsystem!

I am very embarrassed about this. Some of you may know I wrte fan fiction which is a bit steamy on times, so I need some privacy from nosy M(o)B and offspring. I have a laptop which I use and I have a password for it which is the same as my fan fiction name RooFran411 ( No prizes for working that one out ) However when we got our new family PC, I commandeered the Personal Notebook Section for me, my odds and ends and my writing, because the Pc is much faster. I gave various sections, different passwords and wrote them down in a little notebook . Big Mistake However I did it , I kept on locking them. So fed up with this. as I managed to open them, I changed each section password, so they were all the same. Then I gave Personal Notebook the same password as my laptop. Simple ! You may think so ! I cannot forget that how could I ?!? RooFran411... Roof ...Fran.... and my birthday No, I didn't forget it! But somehow, and I don't know how, I have locked the whole B****y thing and cannot get in Ah well I still can write on my laptop.
