Hello dear new friends, ;D I'm Kernowsqueen, a new fan of Mr Sewell and an expat Brit in the wild west {Colorado} eager to discover more of this splendid gentleman's fine performances. I love "The Woodlanders" and {quite obviously} "Tristan & Isolde" but sadly I'm not familiar with a great deal of his other work such as ' The 11th Hour ', or 'Zen'... I do feel rather daft now... Thank you all so very much for creating and maintaining this site!

welcome, 'victim,' and may your 'malady' last forever! we're all hoping ours will!! You have so many more delights coming your way. Find copies of "The Pillars of the Earth" and "The Taming of the Shrew" immediately and prepare to have your temperature rise. You'll be absolutely flushed with lust before you're through (just be careful how you talk about your symptoms here ). Can't wait to hear your reactions to more and more Rufus. "Feed the Disease" is my personal motto.

:(Welcome to the Rooftop, Kernowsqueen! I'm afraid your new discovery could turn out to be an expensive one, I think by and by you may try to get all of Rufus's work (as probably most of us did). My first encounter with Rufus was Middlemarch, and apart from Zen and The Woodlanders, among my favourite films there are also In A Savage Land (which may be difficult to get) and Victory. Depending on your personal preferences you may also like Charles II or A Knight's Tale and of course, many of his other works. ;D And you need not feel daft - we all started more or less with one of Rufus's works.

Welcome to the Rufus madhouse. This is the perfect place to feed your fever! ;D Until "The Pillars of the Earth" was on German TV a while ago, I hadn't really been aware of Mr. Sewell's existence and talent, but when I started to familiarize myself with his works, I was quick to recognize what a versatile and gifted actor he is. Not to mention his performance in the looks department I echo walt in saying this new passion might be bad on your bank account, but do try to get as many of his films as you can find, I'm sure you'll enjoy them all. My personal favourites, apart from the wonderful (but oh so sad) Woodlanders: In a Savage Land (shouldn't be quite as hard to get as a Region 1 DVD), Illuminata, the gorgeous Zen, Taming of the Shrew ... and the 9/11 poem that can be found on youtube. There should be a link kicking around somewhere in the "Works" section of the forum. Have fun!

Welcome to the gang, Kernowsqueen (can we call you KQ for short?)! As the others have said, there's no need to feel daft here - we're all Rufus fans together. I also echo the recommendations for, in particular, Charles II (make sure you look for Charles II: The Power and the Passion, although you'll have to invest in a region-free player. The US version, The Last King, is about an hour shorter),TOTS (you'll find the DVD under "Shakespeare Retold", as it's one of four tales. The best, of course!), and of course, Zen, which is being shown again on PBS there, I think. Enjoy exploring (Media is great for pics) and just ask if you have any queries. GE2

Kernowsqueen - welcome to the Rooftop. One thing you don't have to worry about here is people thinking you're daft for raving about Rufus. We all share "Sewell Fever" or as we call it, Rufusitits. I discovered Rufus when he was in Eleventh Hour and it still remains my favorite. But Rufus has never turned in a poor performance so you have hours and hours of viewing pleasure ahead of you.

Thank you all for making me so welcome here!
Rufusitis sounds better than Sewell Fevre...but no matter what we call it - we'll all suffer this lovely way to burn!
I will certainly seek out 'Zen' and 'Pillars' ...I already have 'Illuminata' (heart) and 'Charles II' and I will have to try to watch "Knight's Tale" as I avoided it before as I really disliked poor Mr. Ledger...
'ToTS' sounds delightful - Henderson and Sewell together again!
Thanks again from kq

Hi, and welcome KQ, Nobody here will think you crazy if you rave about Roof . This is a disease we all suffer from, perhaps i should say enjoy. I have told my story so often to newcomers I fell in love with Roof in Middlemarch, a lovely dreamy innocent love . We were both quite young then. We coasted along very nicely together until our thirties and Taming of the Shrew and Petruchio came along. And I fell rip-roaringly in Lust with the most delightful of men, both on screen and off. My symptoms get worse with each production he is in Enjoy the board , join in and have fun. BTW Do we know each other from Fan fiction.net ? I am only guessing from your name . Are you the Empress of Cornwall ? If you are, I am so glad you took the plunge. My nom de plume is RooFran411

Dear KQ, I have had RS in my blood for over thirty years and recommend Play.com as often cheaper than E.bay or Amazon - universal region players are very cheap and worth the buy. Mine cost £19 and still that price in shops. Yes everyone is slightly off kilter and walking about with stupid grins on our faces but it isn't always RS who is to blame - it's the friendships and the games and the meet-ups and the rash all over the cheeks whenever a new film is out. I have changed from video to DVD over the last year - one a month on mail order! Great way to forget about work and any life crisis you are having to face. Here in England it is often called Rain. Look up the Crown Jewels Crescent board have a good laugh and you will feel right at home. Voiceover

Welcome to the Rooftop KQ. I can only echo the 3 GE2 listed as my top 3 suggestions of what to see first - Taming of the Shrew (Shakespeare Retold), Charles 2 The Power and the Passion and Zen. There are many other worthy works too and such great variety. You have so much to look forward to. Enjoy!

Another though KQ. you will know you are firmly on the rooftop when you only have to put an 'R' into your search request top left hand and up comes the rooftop for you. Takes about 30 goes so keep at it.
