In Texas, there is a group of people dressing up as both vampires and victims and going to see the show. This reminds me quite a bit of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and its following. How cool is that?! I'd love to be part of a group like that, but I don't think I'll get Mr. Kate to wear vampire teeth (or even want to accompany me if I sported fake blood trickling down my neck ;D ). Yes, that's a central problem with any of his projects (except maybe Zen and Charlie). Glad you liked it, GE2. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I said earlier and I say it again - the life of ALVK will be as a cult show and dressing up for it may well catch on. When the Rocky horror show first came out it drew down ridicule and almost hate from the middle aged boring people about. You a watch the young love dressing up. ADAM'S LOOK WILL BE POPULAR

Just seen an interesting theory over on the IMDB message-board as to why ALVH wasn't a hit: Problem is, today's audiences are not literate, not trained to decode symbology. What is obvious to you, unfortunately, goes way over the head of most everyone else, or at least, it seems that way to me. Am I saying people are stupid? Not at all. I am saying they are uneducated. Raised on low-quality product, the average person goes into a horror film or an action film and expects nothing more than loud noises and mayhem. To that filmgoer, any other content is nonexistent or irrelevant. These days, the average person's idea of a "popcorn movie" is something more or less meaningless. "Abe Lincoln" is a popcorn film, but an intelligent one of a much higher order; though it will take time for people to recognize this. www.imdb.com/title/tt1611224/board/nest/200511928?p=6&d=202095172#202095172S/he could have a point there.

Interesting. Not sure I agree as I tend to give people more credit than I should, but interesting point. Thanks for finding!

It's amazing how mixed the reviews are on tumblr. You'll see one person praising some aspect of it and another saying the same aspect was awful. Even among the fans of it there, there are vastly differing opinions on what was great and what could have been done better. I just find it very interesting how people react to it so differently. Personally, I think the movie and the book are best kept separate. The storylines diverge so much they're like totally different creatures. I hope ALVH sticks around as a cult classic. I could definitely see it doing that. ;D I almost dressed up for it myself, but I'm not very savvy with costume-making. And I kept my 3D glasses too! I didn't even realize I had until I got back out to the car, and then I was like, wait what am I going to do with these?

I think it will do well in DVD sales and on the movie channels. I think some people see the title and are just not interested in this type movie...for whatever reason....ticket price, time. I am not usually a syfy/fantasy type movie fan. Not a period piece fan eighter. Geez, makes you wonder how I became/am such an RS fan.
LOL about the glasses Anna. By the way, I saw the movie in SC.

I firmly believe it will do better than the gloom monsters predict.

I don't really agree with the IMDB review as far as people not getting the symbology. I'm not sure that I got it quite like the author is saying (not sure if I'm explaining myself) and I totally loved it for what it was, a flashy, awesome, special effects packed, (Rufus-filled ) action flick. I just think that it's not everyone's favorite genre. I for one love all things vampire and action related, so to add in RS was just the icing on the cake.

What...no Rufus...how dare them! don't worry... here's one... www.francescocorvino.com/#Abraham here you can see pics from the movie, BUT if you're going with the mouse over the pics.... you see the GREEN SCREEN ... On the 6th pic Rufus is lying on the ground .... The evil vampire is finally dead and now Lincoln and his comrade jump on the side to avoid the train right above them. Playing with some filters in Photoshop, it was easy to recreate a hot fire that optically distorts the shapes of the burning beams.
