Hi, everyone. I'm Violet, and I'm a newly converted fan of Rufus. Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about him. I've only seen a handful of films. The first and most clear in my mind is "The Illusionist." (Hence, my username. Heh.) I remember how the whole time I was watching that movie, I was concentrated on him. The only problem with "The Illusionist" is that when I had rented it, I rented "The Prestige" at the same time. I had watched that first, so when I watched "The Illusionist" afterwards, I felt slightly underwhelmed. Nevertheless, I thought it was a great movie. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I had rented Series 2 of "Sherlock," and as I was watching the previews beforehand, I saw the trailer for "Zen." While I have yet to watch this, I instantly remembered the man playing him and suddenly got struck with the bug. I've been spending this past week trying to learn more about him, and I finally decided to create an account here. Like I said, I don't know much, but I'm willing to learn. I think that this is the purpose of forums, really, is to help people learn more about something they wish to know more of. This is definitely the case now, and I can only hope you all will be as helpful to me as people are and have been on all the other forums I'm a member of. Thanks for having me.

Oh yeah, I've lurked here quite a bit beforehand. It seems like I have my work cut out for me. To answer your question, there are quite a few. Most of them are for bands (Coldplay, Elbow, and The National, just to name a few). The other ProBoards forum I'm a member of is ChristianBale.net. (Massive fan of his. Love him. <3) There are also a few which I joined, but decided not to stay for certain reasons. (e.g. one of the mods making it very clear to me that he hated my guts, despite the fact we conversed only twice. Weird.) Thanks so much for the welcome, Kernowsqueen. It's greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I've got it bad right now. I mean bad as in, "scrambling around the media section to read every single interview I can find" bad. Speaking of which, having read some of them, it's nice to know that he has a wicked sense of humor. But you knew that already.
Thanks for the welcome. Love the sig, too. I haven't seen that movie yet. (Like I haven't seen a lot of things yet... v_v)

Hello and welcome, Violet! I'm so glad you decided to join the fun. Your story sounds quite a bit like my own. I saw him in "Tristan & Isolde", remembered the name of that fine-looking man but didn't really follow up on him. And then there was "Pillars of the Earth" on TV. I recall thinking "Oh, that guy from T&I is in it, that's nice". Oh, and how nice it was - I started looking up his other works on youtube, watched "The Taming of the Shrew" on the tiny YT screen, came across his heartbreaking reading of a 9/11 poem ("Out of the Blue"), and suddenly I had it BAD. I haven't recovered since and I don't actually want to ;D Some of his films are hard to get, but the hunt can be fun "Zen" was lovely. My other favourites include "The Woodlanders" (keep those tissues close by!), "Illuminata" (a wonderfully quirky movie with absolutely gorgeous Rufus), "A Man of No Importance", "Uncorked", "Charles II" and my biggest favourite, "In a Savage Land". His audios are highly recommended, too. That voice! And walt is right, there are quite a lot of very good books that have been adapted starring Rufus. The Zen series is excellent, too.

Hi Violet! Welcome to the Rooftop! You were asking about books ... Rufus narrated eleven of the Ian Fleming "James Bond" novels. You can get the CD set online, but I'm warning you ... the set is NOT cheap. I think a better way to hear his lovely voice is to listen to all three series of Dr. Syn. Oh, and we can't forget "Nick Silver Can't Sleep." That voice. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you links to where you can download all three of the Dr. Syn series and Nick Silver.

Keep an eye out for the Bond metal box at ebay. I got mine there at a rather reasonable price.

walt: Oh, sorry. I misunderstood. kissmekate: Yeah, I figured some of the films would be hard to find when I realized upon looking at the movie list that I hadn't ever heard of a good chunk of them before. "Cold Comfort Farm?" Whaaa? judypatooty: Oh, yeah? I'll most certainly do that, then. Thanks!
