After reading this post I bought the book ( see read any good books) I do hope they make a film. It really is a good story I am a quarter way though . I am not 'spoiling ' anything but Lucas Romer does not appear as yet to be a 'baddie' but a spy master for British Intelligence in WWII. Although the physical description of Lucas is unlike Rufus in minor details,( Hair and eyes) I can see him playing this multi- faceted character splendidly .
Let's keep our fingers crossed for this

Totally agree with you... I did read the book few years ago... and love it... Well, would be happy Rufus would play Lucas.... that's really funny, that Lucan/Lucian ( which is almost a vampire name) one of my fav' names, which is very similar to Lucas ;D .... in the book Lucas was a sympathetic baddie - yes, the right words "Silken schemer" When I finished "Zen" in the next , I will start with "Restless" again ...

OMG - I just finished this book. What a thriller, I couldn't put it down. I do hope that this gets made into a movie. It was a facinating, multi-layered story flashing from the past to the present. I could totally see Rufus playing the role of Lucas Romer - it's the kind of meaty, morally ambigious role that Rufus seems to relish. You can't call him a baddie, nor a goodie. It's like Shakespeare said "Nothing it either good or bad but thinking makes it so."

It would be lovely, but why does he forget those who are disabled and would love to hear him read Restless as the original book, on SilkSounds Audio Books, for example. I have all his Bond books and his Fielding book but would love something new! Please ask for me.

Hi Voiceover! Welcome to the Rooftop! How about posting an introduction in the Members forum so we can give you a "proper" welcome? I agree 100%. I love listening to his voice. Have you heard the three Dr. Syn series he recorded for the BBC, or Nick Silver Can't Sleep? Send me a PM with your e-mail address, I'll I'll send you an invitation to where I have them stored online.

Hopefully another new project which, if it comes off, sounds great. What a fantastic film this would be for Rufus! I love Michelle Dockery and also Hayley Attwell and Charlotte Rampling. Must look into the book but sounds fantastic. I will be keeping everything crossed!!!

I got the book "Restless" years ago (2007/2008 - I dunno) and at the first time I thought Gabriel Byrne would be perfect as Lucas Romer - the mystery man - On Rufus I thought he was a little (just a little) bit too young... at that time ...
But meanwhile and whith the news, Rufus could be Lucas Romer, I did read the the third time - I hope Rufus will get the role ...
NOW he's perfect for the role as Lucas Romer and if the movie as fantastic as the book - we all would be HAPPY !!!

I received my copy a few days ago and reading the summary on the reverse side, I had to pull myself together in order to finish the book I'm reading currently (Parade'e End). ;D
