I liked this part ... Lucas Romer (Rufus Sewell), a mysteriously alluring Englishman Oh, and I see Danny Cohen takes some credit for this production. Probably because he knew he screwed up so royally on Zen.

Me Too!!!! Totally agree with all of you! Read the book whilst on holiday. Couldn't put it down. Wonderful, wonderful part for Rufus. Could picture, Rufus as Romer and Hayley as Eva and hopefully Michelle as Ruth all the way through the book. Marvellously intriguing story! Cannot wait for this it will be fabulous! As I said at the Saturday meet up, this is definitely the next book on my list. You have all said how good it is.

I loved the "mysteriously alluring Englishman", too Oh, and I see Danny Cohen takes some credit for this production. Probably because he knew he screwed up so royally on Zen. Well, if his idea of atonement is giving Rufus juicy roles in good dramas, that's the way to go!

This will definitely be brilliant! Thanks for posting the article PGG! Just cannot wait for this to be screened. Late 2012 so not that long! Michael Gambon to play Lucas Romer when older. Is good but I was hoping they would age Rufus! Well I guess you can't have everything you want.

Michael Gambon to play Lucas Romer when older. Is good but I was hoping they would age Rufus! My thoughts exactly (not that I don't like Michael Gambon, but I'd have loved to see a silver-haired version of Rufus ).

When reading the book I was imagining a silver haired Rufus.

ROFLMAO! What an odd match. I just finished reading the book. Excellent story - I hope the film is as good. South Africa seems an odd choice though

Probably costing behind choice of venue! Money governs most artistic choices. At least the sun should be shining so there should be a straight run through. Loved the book would have loved to have seem Roof aged up!

Hmmm. Something just doesn't add up ... + 25 years ≠ Something does not look right at all. Lucas Romer has not aged very well at all in fact has changed completely. On reflection, Charlotte Rampling who is to play Eva in her late 60's looks quite old (in a good way) so I don't think they would have been able to age Rufus enough to match up with her as Eva at that age. He would just look too good!

I completely agree with you all that it is a pity that Rufus does not play the aged Lucas Romer. And if it was possible for Benjamin Walker to play Abe Lincoln as an old man by the help of make-up artists, why didn't BBC make this choice? - IMHO that wouldn't take more time and effort than to make Rufus and Michael Gambon looking a bit more alike?
