Thanks ladies. Enjoyed reading about the last days of the play. Does not sound like rest and relaxation is on his schedule though.

Well, I'm just about coming out of my gloominess at the play ending....it's only taken a week! I'm not quite there yet, but it's just about bearable now < strikes Drama Queen pose> Sad times, though! However, what a wonderful experience it's been over the last three months to not only see a fantastic play (which never failed to feel like a completely different production, each time I saw it), to meet other Rooftoppers (some for the first time) and above all to have the chance to interact with Rufus, to the extent that not only did he often return to me/us (I saw the play a few times alone, a few times with others) to continue chatting after posing for pics with other fans, but on the last few occasions he gave me hugs and kisses on meeting/parting. I felt very honoured that he regarded me worthy of such attention. I even managed not to faint! So huge and heartfelt thanks to all concerned with the production, but most especially to Rufus. His kindness and patience with fans, and his willingness to give so much time, even on days when he had two performances and when the temperatures were often not much above zero, was so very generous on his part. We are very lucky indeed to be fans of such an unstarry, lovely man. That's lovely not just in looks, but in spirit. I just hope it won't be another 6 or 7 years to the next play! Now for the last day.... At a performance earlier in the run a guy I'd chatted to in the day seats queue presented KST with a bunch of flowers as she took her final bow and Rufus jokingly asked where his were. We joked about this after he show. The look on Rufus's face when Kristin took the flowers that time was priceless! ;D Looking back now, that was so funny! Not at all embarrassing - at the time, we were too crestfallen that Rufus had initially left the stage to feel embarrassed (and in any case, this was at the matinee, so we knew we still had the stage-door, as we thought then, and the evening performance, to give him the bouquet), so it was not only a relief but thrilling to see his reaction, once he realised who the flowers were from - not many people can say that Rufus Sewell blew them a kiss from the stage of a West End theatre! (BTW, how self-effacing of Lia to automatically think that the flowers might have been for KST, rather than herself.) It was indeed. He did start to look very flushed towards the end, and I'm not surprised he wasn't up to coming out after either performance on the final day. I feel sure it was only illness that prevented that. (But he looks very much better in those pics from LAX, so hopefully he can start his Hercules training in fine fettle) We were so lucky to be able to get front row seats for those last two performances (SO worth the 4.50am alarm and the 6am train start, to join the queue before 8am......! ) By its nature, of course, theatre acting has to be a bit more flamboyant so that the whole audience knows what's happening, yet there were still a lot of subtleties going on, still the merest flickers of emotion that could be picked up on close-hand. That was from all three actors, not just Rufus. Oh, and, that close, it was so obvious that in the crying part, Rufus really was very much into the scene - not to put too fine a point on it, snot was flying everywhere!!! In an angry speech, he also thumped his chest really hard. I remember thinking "ooh, that must have hurt" - and he could be seen rubbing his chest discreetly afterwards, so it probably did! Despite feeling bad, he still gave an incredible performance. What a trouper! The final verdict? I never did decide what it was all about, whether Kate and Anna were the same person, whether there were multiple personalities, or if any or all of the three were actually ghosts. I said to Rufus at one point that I'd just given up trying to work it all out and was just sitting back and enjoying each perfomance - he told another fan there "that's probably the best way to approach it." Sad it's ended, so very glad I saw it. Bravo, Rufus!

I would have loved to get to London to see Rufus in Old Times - a play I love and am sentimentally attached to - but my spendaholic self had spent the air fare already (and then some) - so its meant a lot to silently read all your wonderful stories and imagine myself there; live vicariously. Thank you all!

Thanks for that lovely summary, GE2! (What you said about the crying bit was well visible from the fourth row, too ;D ) I'll miss all the Rooftopper reports and photos - keeping my fingers crossed that he'll be on stage again very soon!

I'm sure you will carry those memories with you for a long time. I will indeed, Rueful! (All last week, I was re-living scenes from the play in my head - even while I was supposed to be concentrating at work. Ooops! ) Double ditto! ;D And thank you to everyone for the kind and appreciative comments - I'm sure all those of us who were able to see the play are delighted that those who couldn't have at least been able to enjoy it through our eyes (and pictures!) instead. Something else to share with you - when getting autographs for some overseas members, using the flyers from the play, I asked Rufus to sign one for me as well (I've covered my real name, but it is there in full!): Initially, he stopped after the "Roooooof!" bit. I cheekily said "What? No kisses?!" and he replied "But you've got all those Os instead!" - then added some kisses anyway! What a guy!

Hi ladies! I have so much to catch up on, but I want to join in with all of the Rooftoppers who weren't able to see our lovely, lovely man in person onstage and off, by THANKING YOU ALL for your FANTASTIC photos and stories!! It made me feel like I was right there next to you all trying not to faint ;D I'm so excited for all of you, especially the ladies meeting him for the first time! I would have loved more than anything to have seen him (and I kind of felt like it was ridiculous not to, seeing as it was in London. Connections and all), but the $$$ just weren't there. I echo the rest of you by saying I HOPE HOPE HOPE it won't be another 6 or 7 years until his next play! He seemed like he had such a fantastic time! I'd never seen the Pinter theatre before. It looked like such an intimate place inside and out. Great for a Rufusy chat! ;D I am so excited for you all! What a treasure trove of perfect memories!

Awww, what a sweet souvenir you got, GE2! Meg, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll get your chance at seeing (and meeting) him next time he's on stage! The Pinter Theatre is really a particularly lovely place, small and cosy and exactly how I love my theatres

Coooolll....I recognise that Roooooof Hey I was having a mad sort out of files last night. Rufestation again!! Such a hardship to 'gaze' upon.. But good news, I came across this.... On one of my visits to Old Times I spoke with Rufus after the performance and asked if I might take a photo of him.. He was joking about and said, 'I'll give you a funny one first'....and he did!! ..'then a nice face'....and he did...and here's the result. Result - got 2 photos!! (one of which has been on the board previously I think!) The first shot reminds me of Deeley's...'I'm her husband' line. Had a laugh when I showed him the first photo on the camera view screen... I love this as it shows how expressive he is and this is one of the reasons I was so drawn to him as an actor when I saw him in the brilliant Zen. Everytime I see this I think thank goodness it was not the scary Aggie pose.... Stills scares the bejesus out of me. Ditto, what a guy
