Rufus Sewell, Oliver Chris and Nancy Carroll get Closer at Donmar?

Nancy Carroll, Rufus Sewell and Oliver Chris will reportedly star in a revival of Patrick Marber's play Closer at the Donmar Warehouse next year.

According to the Daily Mail, the production will be directed by David Leveaux - who was previously rumoured to be directing a revival starring Carey Mulligan - and "run at the Donmar from February for three months".

Marber's modern classic, set in London, centres on the tangled relationships between two couples: Alice, a young American stripper, and Dan (Chris), the writer who's penned a book about her experiences; and Larry (Sewell), a doctor, and Anna (Carroll), a photographer.

Closer premiered at the National in 1997 before transferring to the West End and, in 1999, to Broadway. In 2004, it was made into a film starring Brits Clive Owen and Jude Law and Americans Julia Roberts and Natalie Portman.

Oliver Chris is currently appearing in Great Britain, though the Mail reports he will not transfer with the production to the Theatre Royal Haymarket, and will instead rejoin the cast of King Charles III for its move to Wyndham's Theatre.

Rufus Sewell recently appeared in a West End revival of Pinter's Old Times, while Nancy Carroll's recent stage credits include The Magistrate at the National and The Recruiting Officer at the Donmar.

No, no - thanks. A severe thunderstorm was just developing, so no point going to bed - checked for Rufus news instead, et voila! (but then we had two very noisy storms within three hours, so I was certainly sleepless later!)

Well thanks GE2 for braving it and going online during the storm!!!

I have to confess I powered all my PC gear down. Having enough trouble with my internet connection as it is!!!!

I doubt that many got much sleep that night. I awoke to all the light flashing, hubby had gone AWOL from the room so sleepily I assumed he was up and about with a flashlight. Why do some men do that? Mind you if you have pets in the house it does save you from tripping over them in the dark - so maybe there IS method in his madness! Anyway, I was just about to tell him to stick his flashlight where the sun doesn't shine (lol), when he appeared shortly followed by a very, very loud clad of thunder. Awwww love him, he'd gone downstairs to make sure that our cats were all OK.

Anyway back on thread, lovely to get the news that Rufus will be on stage again (hopefully) soon. again.
