Smiling - he's smiling. Like.....a proper smile! That's a rarity....

lol! He's got new teeth.
They look like Hollyweird dental work. They probably cost a fortune so he needs to get some mileage on them so they can be a proper tax deduction.
I liked his old original teeth. They looked lived in. Unfortunately you can't get cigarette stains out of porcelain crowns.

It's tax time in the US. Everything looks like a potential deduction!

Ok.......what's with the teeth? Does someone have a good, clear picture of him smiling with his "old" teeth?? I've never noticed his teeth being so different! I guess I'm so caught up in the eyes and hair........I don't make it to the teeth! I'd just like to see what you all keep talking about with his teeth! Michelle

Uke should be around any moment to provide her "tuscan sunset" photo. But even that is not the original incarnation of the teeth. Back in the old days... when he didn't have a lisp because he had his real teeth, I liked them. Think Middlemarch and earlier. There are a couple of good shots in the screen caps of his real original teeth in Citizen Locke. I understand why he had the front ones capped. But I still liked the old ones. Now well... now, he looks like my neighbors, teeth-wise. I can't stand California teeth so I'm hypersensitive to them. It's my personal fetish--face lifts and fake teeth. Just ignore me. I live on the Westside of LA. actually on the lisp issue, did anyone but me notice it's gone now with his new teeth? Okay, I'm done with this topic. I'm starting to creep myself out. wasn't that a great picture?

Ok, I looked at the MM and CL caps........and I couldn't find one with a nice big smile that really showed his teeth. There's one or two on CL that sort of show them......but I'm just not seeing it. I'd like to see this "Tuscan Sunset" pic you're talking about!!! Come on, Uke, post it!
And I've never noticed him lisping. Geez......apparently I don't pay enough attention to these things! I do understand what you are talking about, Maxx.........those "perfect" teeth that so many acting people have.........people don't have THAT perfect of teeth normally! I do know an actor that had one of his front teeth capped and fixed.......but it was because of pain, not vanity. Maybe Ruf had problems like that?
Yes.......the picture in the blog was a GREAT picture!!! He looks wonderful! Michelle

He has a lovely smile even with Hollywood teeth!!! I paid very close attention to his original teeth in his oldest roles, and they did suit him very well even though they weren't perfect. I do like these smaller caps, but boy are they white! As you can tell I'm way too interested in Rufus' teeth, ok, in Rufus' physiognomy period!

That is a really good picture! But what's this about a lisp? I don't ever remember hearing him lisp. Can anybody point me to a film where it's evident so I can check it out? And the teeth.....I do seem to remember some that seemed bigger than normal, but his smile in this picture is just perfect!
(It's weird, the things we talk about here -- teeth and cod-pieces!! LOL!)

I love that lisp-it's so very slight but terribly endearing-I bet he doesn't even know he's got it himself. I'm trying to think of a specific example of it but can't....I think I first noticed it in the DVD extras for Charles II. It'd spoil it a bit for me if I thought it was because he had ill-fitting teeth though! Kind-hearted soul that he is, maybe he was wearing them in for someone else?

I really need to learn to keep my observations to myself.
