I first saw Rufus in Dark City, was floored, still on floor. Same here - and I'm still floored! G xo I make an attempt to get back up occasionally, but I'm near to admitting it's hopeless ;D

I actually first saw him in "A Knight's Tale", but it wasn't until I rented the movie when I was skiing with some friends that his beauty and acting ability really hit me. I know, I know, how could I have overlooked him in the first place?
I t hen became a die-hard fan and saw Dangerous Beuaty, Dark City and She Creature (a seldomly mentioned movie) and fell in love..

Who WOULD want to get up, when being floored by Rufus is so much fun?? I remember seeing Rufus in A Knights Tale, and thinking, now HE'S the hunk of this film for ME, finally an actor who is just my type in every way, and with a sexy voice to boot. (esp. that part where he explains the rules to the lady in that low voice of his) Then, when I saw that he was in Dangerous Beauty, I bought the film, sight unseen, just because he was in it. I know a good thing when I see it!! Seeing him in that wonderful film, I was Rufused to near death, and officially floored. I've been on my back looking up ever since.

" I remember seeing Rufus in A Knights Tale, and with a sexy voice to boot. (esp. that part where he explains the rules to the lady in that low voice of his)" In one of special features someone(?) is talking about the filming of that scene, and said that Rufus went to the director & asked exactly what he intended for this scene, as it's just exposition, (explaining the rules of josting) He was told no, it's S-exposition. At which point Rufus nodded his head & preceded to do exactly that! rufluvr said: "I was Rufused to near death, and officially floored. I've been on my back looking up ever since." I still love that phrase coined by one of our own! Ruf'd to near death!

I first noticed him in "A Knight's Tale" when it was on television, followed very soon by "Helen of Troy" also on television. When "Charles II" appeared on television the next month, I was completely hooked, and when I looked him up I found I'd already seen him in smaller roles over the years without realizing it. And, of course, I've now collected all those and watched them over and over. My favorites are "Charles II", Tristan & Isolde", "The Woodlanders," "Middlemarch" -- Rufus's part, at least, "Taming of the Shrew," and "Cold Comfort Farm." I've watched them too many times to count!

I saw 'A Man of No Importance' and was quite taken with him, but not attracted as such. I was more blown away by the film itself, the subject matter (having a soft spot for Oscar Wilde) and the beautifully touching turn put in by Albert Finney.
Then I saw Charles II and remembered thinking that I would, should the opportunity ever present itself ;D Again I loved the whole mini-series as well as Rufus; a testament surely to his skill in choosing his roles.
However, the piece that actually made me go thud on the deck was TOTS. This was truly an epiphany. What a total lust-fest and an absolute masterpiece of comic talent, combined with very skilful carrying off of drag and make-up.
If it's of any interest, I too find him far more attractive as a beautiful man than as a pretty boy.

I FIRST saw him in a magazine actually, can't remember which one or what the picture looked like. But I thought he was stunning. That was probably in the late-90s sometime....
I didn't see him again 'til I noticed him on Charles II, on tv, but I only saw a tiny bit of it, and had to leave. I recognized his face and remembered him from the magazine I saw several years before. Not long after that, I noticed him again on tv, in Middlemarch, but once AGAIN I didn't watch it because I had to leave. (I have bad luck, I guess!)
It wasn't until I saw The Illusionist earlier this year that I FINALLY got his name and looked him up online. It's so strange that I first noticed him so long ago, but only fairly recently learned his name and became a fan. I'm kicking myself for not investigating him sooner. haha!

I first noticed him in Hamlet. The next production I saw him in was Middlemarch. LOVED his rendition of that powerful poem describing 911, absolutely blew me away with his expression and everything else. What an actor!

Always exciting to recall the first-time moment! When I noticed him first in the Legend of Zorro I only felt strong rejection, he played that "bad guy" so perfectly, a man of over-handsome outside and "rotten" inside. I wasn't sensitive for his talent even when I saw Dark City for the first time. I think maybe his voice in TPOTE was the key for me. Maybe beacuse you're not blinded by the look, but can sense something else (even if it is a movie character). Tom Builder was the "missing link" to see his complexity and human beauty as well. After that I started to look for his movies. I don't forget the numerous interviews in which he shows us his thinking.

For me it was Tom Builder as well - and then I remembered I'd seen him before, the only proper actor in T&I! (and lets not forget Jasper...)
