It was Tom and will forever be Tom. Then TOTS and the Out of the Blue work. I realized later I had seen T&I (but was really distracted by something else while I called myself watching it) and Amazing Grace (same story -- must stop trying to multi-task during movies.) what a revelation when i went back and watched rufus' work in both of those.

It was Zen that did it for me! Even though I later realised I had watched him in Charles II and in Carrington, and (I'm embarrassed to admit this!) on stage in Rock and Roll! I know, I know... I'm making up for lost time by trying to watch all his other films, and being totally Rufobsessed, whilst having to make sure it's not too too obvious when hubby's around...

The first thing I noticed him in was T&I. I was pretty sure at the time that I had seen him in something else before, but the name in the end credits was new to me. I all but forgot about him until TPOTE was scheduled to premiere on German TV. I remembered the name of that impressive guy from T&I, looking forward to seeing him in the adaptation of one of my favourite books, and the more I saw of him, the more he swept me off my feet.
One night, home alone, I started Googling him and first came across some interviews on youtube, then the lift scene from TOTS. I watched the whole thing on that tiny youtube "screen", followed by "Out of the Blue" ... well, the rest is history ;D

First time was "A Knight's Tale" in the cinema, then "Martha, Meet.......", then "Dangerous Beauty", then bye bye to any thought of being rational with anything to do with Ru. Oh and "A Man of No Importance" was heartbreakingly sweet. Actually, I've loved all his roles come to think of it! :-)

My first time was Will in Middlemarch, the Sunday teatime TV serial. But I must have seen him somewhere before because I remember thinking as he crossed the bridge, "Oh! he always plays the baddie( Sacrilege I know ). And how wonderfully surprised I was when he wasn't!
