The first time I noticed Rufus has been in "Dangerous Beauty" even though any years before I saw "Cold Comfort Farm" and "Carrington". In those films I didn't note him, I don't know why. Well, I ask you, what is the first time have you noted him?

I remember him from Carrington--he's a bit difficult to forget even in a non-role such as that one.
But the first time I really took note of him was in Dark City. I don't think I recognized him as being the same actor. It was quite a long time before I realized he wasn't an American. Dark City remains one of my favorite films to this day because it's a wonderful film and I'm a fan of the genre. Rufus is just a bonus.

I agree with you, I saw Dark City just one month ago and I liked it very, very much, like film and, obviously, for Rufus, I got it becouse he was in it. I also liked Lord Marke before.
In Carrington I remember I took note especially of Jonathan Pryce and Emma Thompson.
By the way of Lord Marke and T-I film, how do you think about Ridley Scott as director? He was the producer of that film but I love him as director and I'd like to see Rufus directed by him. Don't you?

Charles II. Actually, pre-Charles II, because it was the trailers the BBC showed beforehand that got my attention - specifically, the wink to the little girl when she stuck her tongue out. Yet, curiously, it wasn't until The Taming of the Shrew that he really got to me. I mean, really got to me. Been a Rufaholic ever since.

I first saw Ruf in "Middlemarch" and really liked him a lot as an actor, but I specifcically remember thinking, "Too bad he's too damn pretty for me!" (Sorry, I always have issues with a guy who is prettier than the leading lady. I call it the "Tyrone Power Factor.) I next saw him in "Carrington" and remember going, "That's the guy from 'Middlemarch'!" I know I saw "Hamlet" and "Dangerous Beauty" but don't remember when, but I do remember really liking him in DB. Then I saw "Dark City" and it just flipped my lid to see him with an American accent (not that he did a bad one, I was just used to hearing a Brit accent come out of his mouth!) I guess after Middlemarch, he just kept cropping up in movies I was interested in and I was always happy to see his name in the cast. I also remember seeing a trailer for Tristan and Isolde and thinking about Ruf, "Oh, I love him! Where's he been hiding?" (Yes, I know he wasn't hiding, I just hadn't seen him in anything in a few years!) I have to say, having always liked Rufus from the get go, it took my seeing "Taming of the Shrew" to go, "Oooohh..... RUFUS! You can be sexy too!" LOL. I was really surprised to find him attractive at last in something. Although I'm not sure its not because he's now in his early 40's and is less "pretty" and much more manly to me than he was in his 20's. But I've always seemed to lust after men that age (even as a teen) and probably will continue to do so as an old lady! I like men who look like they've lived a little, oh yeah, and with gray flecks in their hair like Ruf has now. ;D how do you think about Ridley Scott as director? He was the producer of that film but I love him as director and I'd like to see Rufus directed by him. Don't you? Oh, Lord! I a total Ridley fan and am dying to see ANY of my favorite actors work with him. All I can say is, it is good to be a Ridley and Russell Crowe fan lately. LOL.

I still don't know how Ruf missed being in Kingdom of Heaven! Every other British actor seemed to be in it! He definitely would've been a better lead than poor Orlando.

Maxx loves Ridley Scott's work so I think she's agreeing. I could with a little effort pinpoint the exact few minutes in time that I 'noticed' Rufus but I won't It was however A Man of No Importance on the BBC in Oct of 2004.

I've read your first post about RS, can't remember exactly what you said....remember you were excited. I first saw Rufus in Dark City, was floored, still on floor.

I first noticed him in Bless The Child but didn't look for his name until Tristan and Isolde.
