I've bought a ticket for Oct 26 but am hoping to pick up a ticket for Oct 25 and Oct 27 matinee once I'm in NYC...Where should I do that? you know cd, since the show it only in previews at that time I'm not sure you'll be able to get them short of going to the box office and buying them at full price. You might try ebay before you go. Sometimes you can get tickets there. But I doubt you'll see anything at TKTS or from scalpers that early in the run when the show hasn't even opened officially. Of course the concierge at the hotel can always arrange theatre tickets. Don't forget to tip them if they do so. Hope this helps.

Yup, try the box office! The added bonus is that you might spot a stray cast member running out for a coffee

Sure, uncorked, I'll join you at the stagedoor...I wouldn't have the nerve to do it alone. Maxx and Uke, so,if I show up at the boxoffice 30 minutes before showtime, do you think the tx are discounted then...or even available?Hit or miss?

I wouldn't leave it that close (30 mins before curtain). Plus the box office will normally not discount the tickets. If you want discounts on the day, you're better off with TKTS but it's by no means certain that they'll have them.
So yes, you can go to the box office for tickets for the same day but don't go there expecting discounts.

to be honest I doubt you'll get anything discounted until after the first of the year unless it happens to be an odd day here or there.
It usually takes a bit into the run before they start sending tickets to TKTS, but heres how it works, for an evening show you go over and get on line in the afternoon. They usually put up the evening shows about 3:30. And the line will be long, especially on the weekend. For a Matinee, I think they open at 11, but don't quote me on it as I haven't done it in years. TKTS used to be right in the middle of Times Square(but they've moved it out of the middle and I'm not sure where it is now) and there is also one in the South Street Seaport which might have a shorter line depending on the weather. You can ask at the hotel. It used to be the earlier you got on line the better your chances to get what you wanted.
Still I'm not sure I'd count on getting tickets to Rock 'n' Roll quite that soon. I'm not even sure I'd count on being able to buy them at the box office on the day of for full price. It may be sold out.

TKTS used to be right in the middle of Times Square(but they've moved it out of the middle and I'm not sure where it is now) LOL. Thank goodness! When I stood in that line, I watched in horror as tourists dodged taxis left and right as they flung themselves across the street to get to that bloody ticket booth! (I saw a few make it across unscathed .... thank heavens!)

Thanks , Maxx and Uke, for the information about discount tix and waiting to buy at the boxoffice. Nothing's on sale yet on eBay but I think I'd better buy a ticket online before I start out.May only see Roof twice.
uncorked, the Pennsylvania Hotel looks like the best deal for us, so far. If I were staying alone or had no luggage, I'd consider The Pod.

Sorry, guys, it's been so long -- I've been only on to read bits and pieces and not participate so much. The new "Tickets" discount place is now in the Marrriott Hotel lobby (I think it's about 48th Street, and 7th Avenue, or somewhere right around there) It's getting soooo close

Hey, the second "not so smiley" icon was a mistake! - that one stands for "Hate waiting"

Ok, should have looked it up first instead of "guestimating" The discount tickets place is actually 1535 Broadway at 45th Street [Marriott Marquis hotel lobby--but kind of on the outside -- and you need to have cash only] -- there's an ATM in the bank building on the corner (but we actually don't want tickets to be available there, do we? ? ) we want the show to be so hugely successful that there are no tickets available to be discounted, even if we have to beg, borrow, steal for those extra shows;)

thanks for the update on TKTS. I knew where they'd moved in the Seaport but the one in Times Square was a mystery. I usually try to run to the theatre and get out of dodge as soon as I'm able so I don't do much looking around when I'm in midtown other than at least one trip to Joe Allen. To me, the City has lost a good deal of it's old charm. I miss the red shacks with the big sign that said TKTS. Ah well. I miss a lot of things about NYC these days. It looks more and more like everywhere else, each time I visit. I guess I should be happy that I had a chance to live there before they decided to turn it into Disneyland.
