You mean that you dont have an ad banner directly above your last post?
What browser are you using? maybe that has something to do with it!

Just my opinion here........
Pros of moving: No ads Having the website and board all in one place
Cons of moving: We JUST moved........I really hate the thought of doing it again I think we might lose people, sort of like when they move a TV show frequently......people just stop moving with it Won't we lose all the posts from here? I like going back to reading what people have said! We lost SOOOO much when Minx had to close EMS......granted, we don't have as much here, YET, but still we have several months of posts and conversations, as I said, I like looking back at stuff and I'd hate to not have that ability I just scroll past the ads......I don't pay them any attention, so it doesn't bother me to have them.........it might if they add ads to each and every post
Just my 2 cents worth! Michelle

At the bottom right of my Ad banner it says ads by Google. So I guess most of us have the Google bar installed?

that's an interesting theory but I have 3 browsers installed and only one of them(firefox) has google toolbar and I get ads with all of them on many different machines and believe me I've done a study of it. In fact I got the same ads when I did my test with safari on a mac.
pattirose are you on dialup?

All that technical discussion is way over my head, but it sounds like setting up a new board would be so much work for Uke and Maxx, after you've already done so much here, and Maxx has just finished the screen caps. The banner isn't that bothersome to me. As long as it doesn't appear between every post I can live with it. I'm very comfortable here. But I'll go along if our group moves. I would hate to lose all the old posts, though. And we'd lose our PMs we've saved, too, right?
Pattirose, you must be leading a charmed life not to have any adverts. I have them just under the Rufus banner and the new one between the first and second post of each page. I use Internet Explorer, too.

I agree with Michelle and Sevenssisters on this one. Let's wait and see what happens after April 16. If this is just a trial things may still change. It would really blow if we would lose our content and our pm's and I suspect some people are (rightfully) weary of having to make new accounts, figure out a new system, fix new avatars, etc. I of course would be happy to mod/admin but I don't have time in my life right now to customize a new board.
Can we keep your board as a back-up, Maxx, in case the ads here get worse?

I'm on hi-speed dialup - I think it's called DSL? I'm not sure about the google toolbar, I know I don't have the yahoo toolbar, they keep trying to trick me into getting it but so far they haven't.
I just noticed a very small bar across the screen at the very bottom of the page that says ads by google and 4 links to Beyonce sites and another link that says "click here to make this board Ad-Free" That's not what you guys are talking about though right? I can't see how that would bother anyone way down there. Have you guys tried clicking that link?

Can we keep your board as a back-up, Maxx, in case the ads here get worse? yeah of course. I installed it, built the database and set it up, we can save it forever as far as I'm concerned. It's not taking up much space on the server.

I wondered if maybe the dynamic ads at the top of page didn't have the bandwidth to load since they are very similar to the stuff on many websites these days that don't load well if you're on dial-up. doesn't matter. Just curious.

I've never clicked on the "Click here to make this board ad-free" before, but when I did they offer to get rid of the ads for a fee of $7 per month for 50,000 pageviews! Talk about extortion!

I agree with Michelle, 7Sis and uke - much as the ad after the first post is irritating (it's easier to ignore at the top), it's bearable (just) if that's all they do. My rant about changing my mind was after a games frenzy, since it's really noticeable when you are going quickly-ish from one thread to another. If there's been a buzz about it on other boards, maybe the feedback will be so anti they'll go back to the old format? I say wait and see what happens after the 16th.
I'd hate to lose the PMs and the old posts (I look back at them, too - and I wouldn't mind betting the lurkers and newbies do as well), and I think there's a real danger of losing people.
Hell, I even like the wallpaper!
And Uke and Maxx, this must take up so much of your time. I'm sure you can both do without all the extra hassle.
PS - I'm on dial-up and IE6 (I uninstalled IE7 for various reasons)

For my 2 cents worth. I like it here, and I don't like the idea of being pushed around by some crummy little ads I'll just make them disappear from my mind....
