Like GE2, I'm also on dial-up and IE 6.
The ads are annoying, but I can ignore them--unless they get worse. I will move along with everyone else if it comes to that, but I'd really rather not do that just now...I have too much stuff going on.

I don't understand why everyone else is seeing these ads and I'm not. Very strange. Is there anyone else out there that doesn't see them?

Do we have any lurkers also in Canada who'd care to join in and tell us if they can see the ads too?
Or maybe you're just a very lucky person, pattirose!

I learn on that board that this is only a trial until 16 April and that there is discussion, not to mention all out war on the admins board - maybe they will be dropping the interwoven ad lines if everyone gets up in arms! Should we be having an e-mail campaign to express our feelings about the ads in between the posts? Would it help, do you think, and who would we address the e-mail to, does anybody know?

I find the politcal ads very offensive. Is anyone else getting them? I think they are outrageous.

I haven't seen any political ads, but I have seen one with a scary looking terrorist type and the words "What's next?" several times on the games thread. It's a little hard to ignore that one.

Okay, I've worked it out, I think. The ads are keyed off certain words. The political ad is on the page with the POLL and I've noticed all of the dog talk on the Blog Babe thread is now evincing ads about dogs. Some of the ads are flash which may be why Pattirose doesn't see them as she may not have the plug in. Others are simple text.
so the bottom line seems to be, the more gadgets you have installed the more annoying and sophisticated the ads.
And quite frankly they are driving me batty because for a bit they moved the top banner ad to right after the first comment and now they have it in both places.

That makes sense as to why I don't see them. Next time I'm at the library I'll try one of their computers and see what happens. I tried accessing this site with 2 different US based proxies and never got any ads either so it's not a Canadian thing, it has to be something to do with my computer. It's just kinda strange I'm the only one who doesn't see them.
