Hi guys..my question may sound stupid but ..still I need to ask it how can I attach a photo to be displayed in my profile?? (like most of you have a photo of Rufus) ..can I do this without using any links to websites(want to attach a photo i've already downloaded on my computer)?? thx .. You can do it in your profile, Monika. You'll see that option displayed at the top of the page when you are logged in. All you have to do is give the URL to where it resides on the web and then put in the numbers to size it. It can't be on your computer unless your computer is a webserver. It has to be up on the web. If there is something you'd like to link to on the website, feel free. Many others do, as I do myself. I built it for all of us to use. You can also use photobucket or one of the other commercial photo repositories. I don't use them because I have all the space on the website so someone else will have to tell you how to do that. Hope this helps. www.roofsewell.com

Monika, If you can't find the photo you have on your computer at one of the Rufus websites, you can put it online yourself here: imageshack.usIf you can't figure it out, send me a pm and I'll happily help you out.

And let me add, if it's a picture you have and the website doesn't, please send it along so everyone can enjoy it. Unless of course it's a personal picture. Then I promise not to be too grabby and I'll leave it up to you if you'd like to share it.

can you tell us what you did so we can help? Did you get logged into your profile thought "modify profile"? Did you find the place to put the link? Did you find the place to resize your photo? Did you follow the instructions about entering your password? I need more info about what happened to help you.

Hi - i logged in(of course:), found the places to enter the link(and put the link to a website where the picture is) and the place to resize the photo(have no idea what size to put in there so left it blank)...the picture is in fact displayed only when I get into "modify profile" and click the website address but is not "visible" like yours or any other's...i do hope you can help me with that / herrmannka

you've got it right EXCEPT you must put in a size. Otherwise it doesn't know how to display it. You can play around until it looks about right. For example my avatar at the moment is width of 75 and height of 95, I believe. If it's a picture that's wider than tall, flip those numbers. See how it looks and if it isn't distorted then you've got it.

I finally got my photo to attach, using 75 width and 95 height. I see its quite large compared to other avatars up. Distractingly large? Should I reduce the size?

It doesn't bother me, but if you'd like it smaller just reduce them proportionally say 55 by 75 and that should do it.

Now that its up, having trouble getting it resized smaller, though I'm doing the same thing. May take me awhile.

Bumping this topic up to top to ask if you add pictures in posts in the same way as described here for adding pictures to your profile. Just copy and paste the url? If that's the way to do it, will it show up if I preview the post so that I can make sure it worked? There's no need to rush on an answer to this, as I currently have no pics I want to post. I was just wondering for future use. Thanks very much.

Rueful,
Yes, you paste the URL between [img*] and [/img*] (taking out the *) and the pic will show up in preview for you to check.
