Ambra, are you surprised by the media's lust for trash news??? It's the ratings, as my dad keeps telling me...................from the paper media to the idiot tube, bottom line is they're in the business of selling toilet paper.....that's the sad reality.

I'm never surprised by anything the media does for a story. After the VA Tech shootings, local hospitals had problems with "reporters" calling and pretending to be a friend of one of the wounded. When the nurse got a family member on the phone, the reporter would identify themselves and start asking questions, upsetting these poor people even more than they already were. I was ticked off with the local news agency because I feel they have a responsiblity to their viewers to let them know if something is going on that may affect their safety, like an armed suspect running around. A simple crawl at the bottom or top of the screen could've let people know that; I'm just glad that no one walked out there door, not knowing what was going on, and ended up getting shot by the suspect, who is still on the loose.

Could it be "Broadcast News"? Or am I dating myself?
I just....love reading the blurbs that go along with all the "Watch [fill in movie title here] online for FREE" sites that pop up when you google Rufus's name. Here is one for Helen of Troy:
"Incomprehensible": I couldn't have said it better myself!
Here is Shecreature:
"Ought to make out": Ok, that one I can definitely agree with, but I still think that's not exactly what they were trying to say.
A Knight's Tale:
and Tristan and Isolde:
Hmmm, that sounds strangely familiar yet prodigiously discrepant.
Finally, I'll end with Illuminata, because otherwise I could keep this up all night:
I've just received my copy of Illuminata, and I definitely plan to parish it over and over again!
I want to add the disclaimer that I don't actually use these download sites. I'm not sure it's a good idea to click on a site that seems like it's being translated by Babelfish. I just think the descriptions are hilarious.

LOL! Those reviews remind me of the site www.engrishfunny.com which has Engilsh translations of things from other countries, translations that often make no sense at all.

Here is one I got for a Knights Tale: "The overwhelming movie,A Knight’s Tale, featuring Heath Ledger is thoroughly most enjoyable, with a supporting cast of smashing stars, take pleasure in Rufus Sewell , will of course be worth while to go-ahead and behold." Yes I will take pleasure in Rufus.... thank you.

LOL! Poor Rufus, he can never satisfy anyone, no matter how he wears his hair!
I just had to look at the original Spanish, and Google translator left out the crucial "y" ("and") when translating, so it should have read something like, "The best were Rufus Sewell AND the child with the dreadful haircut." Seems like kind of a major thing to miss.

And the translation was much funnier without it!

Well, as long as Rufus Sewell is on the menu, I'll take my pleasure in Rufus very rare... and skip the salad!
With that said, I know I haven't been posting much of late, but alas I am still here.. sometimes lurking in the shadows. I've just been quite busy the past couple of weeks. I hope everyone is doing well!

Hi, vittoria--nice to have you back! Hope you've been busy with pleasant things.
We had that little break where there was no EH for a couple of weeks and it got a little quiet here, so I suppose now that the season's ended that's how it'll be sometimes. I was very spoiled by only coming here after EH had started. But Vinyan is out, and I'm looking forward to reading everyone's reaction to it.

I just want my car back...only good thing is I get to drive this thing around for a day.... Oh and I was actually thinking "Up Close and Personal" for that quote...but you're probably right Rueful...whichever came first I suppose. I never saw "Broadcast News".
