i just love the aroma of homemade keilbasa stew that is wafting around my apartment. My grandmothers recipe calls for Ring Balogna...but I don't think they make it anymore...so keilbasa will do...according to the mother unit anyway..lol We'll see how it turns out..

I've just been making plans for a mini-vacation next weekend. I'm working for someone tomorrow so they can have Easter off and she's working for me Friday so I have a three day weekend. As long as I've lived in the the area, I've never been to Natural Bridge, just an hour and a half from me. While checking out their website, I found some really interesting and, to say the least, quirky attractions. One of them is Professor Cline's Dino Land and Monster Museum. Dino Land is this bizarre fantasy world where Union soldiers do battle with dinosaurs. Yes, dinosaurs! It's so weird I absolutely have to see it for myself! There's also Foamhenge, a styro-foam replica of Stonehenge, a toy museum, and a wax museum. I'll have to see what my bank account looks like around mid-week but I'm hoping I can go up there for a couple of days.

Erm... I just don't have much to say today. RE: my post in the TOTS thread.... I think my online part-time Master might have me in communication black-out time right now. This is a very odd feeling, an odd headspace to be in. Hmmmm. I think I will just have a nap.

Ambra, have fun and please let us know who wins the battle, I'm kinda rooting for the dinosaurs. This is VA, home of Robert E. Lee, "Stonewall" Jackson, JEB Stuart, and the capital of the Confederacy so I'm pretty sure the dinosaurs are going to win, LOL! They're actually statues spread out along the area and I think you walk a path around it. The "story" behind the display is that Union soldiers stumbled onto a valley filled with dinosaurs and planned to use them as weapons against the Confederacy. Don't worry--I'm getting a new memory card for my camera, maybe two, so I'll take plenty of pictures! The website for Natural Bridge is www.naturalbridgeva.com and if you click on attractions, there's a link to it. I'm also going to go to the Natural Bridge Zoo; last year, their white tiger had cubs and for awhile, visitors had the opportunity to bottle feed and pet them. I missed out on that but I'm hoping they'll have some similiar "hands on" experiences with some of the animals.

Well, it looks like the vacation is going to have to be post-poned. I had to call in yesterday (Monday) and will probably have to call in today so I'll have to go in on the weekend to make up the time. I've evidently developed an ear infection in my right ear; my ear is all stuffy and sore feeling plus the mastoid bone just behind it is really sore and has some swelling. It hurts to have the earpiece from my glasses resting on it much less wear earphones. I'm going to go to the doctor later and have her check it out.

oooooo try this Ambra...take a sock (clean) put some uncooked rice in it, nuke it in the microwave for about a min...or until hot, take it out and put it against your ear.....trust me it works, I am always getting ear infections and I got sick of spending hours in the Navy Hospital ER. Oh and take plenty of Vitamin M (Motrin), or Tylenol.
I just became an official referee. Passed my speed test last night at practice...woot!!!

Congrats DGD! Sounds like fun! Thank for the tip about the rice-filled sock. I think I read about using that somewhere. I've been keeping a hot compress or heating pad on it as much as possible.
I just got back from the doctor and it is an ear infection, although it seems I caught it early. I've only had a low grade fever on and off. She put me on some mega-antibiotics, one that I take once a day for five days and they'll stay in my system for ten days total. She also gave me a strong decongestant/anti-histamine to help the ear drain. She was a little concerned by the mastoid pain but said it's probably being caused fluid getting trapped in the air sacs that are part of the bone, which the meds should help clear up. Once the infection clears up, I have to go back in and have my ears irrigated which doesn't sound like much fun but the doctor said it would help decrease my chances of getting ear infections.

Ear irrigation can be painless if done right. I had it done one time when I was in high school. The nurse that did it stuck the needle thingy (not really a needle...looked like one though) too far in and depressed the water way to fast...hurt like hell. But I had it done later in life as well and it felt rather nice...so just depends on who does it.
Do you know if your Eustacian tube has developed properly? Mine never curved down, it's still straight, so whenever I get a cold or anything, all the crap builds up inside my Eustacian tube and gets infected. It's a pain in my royal arse. Had an infection start in boot camp...(docs dismissed it as "allergies" and sent me back to my unit)...it got worse in "A" school and I ended up having blood behind my eardrums. *shudders*
And thank you for the congrats. I actually was off by 2 sec...but they decided to just give it to me...you have to skate 10 laps in 1:45. my lungs were on fire by the time i was done...then I had to 10 more to get my WFTDA skater quals passed. You have to 20 laps in 5 min to pass. My legs are killing me today.
