The hail fell at about 11pm and was still there in drifts when I went to work the next morning - they were scooping it up and taking it off in trucks. There was still a bit left when I went home at 5pm the next day - just drifted into a hollow. A chap took this picture of the hail in his garden

, that's some hailstone. No wonder there was so much damage. Since some lasted all day without melting, I assume it's cooled off somewhat now? Is autumn near?

No, still warm and rather more humid than we are used to as well - quite unpleasant during the middle of the day actually!

OK so I see on the news that storms are battering the US now - how are our midwestern friends?

I'm in the southeast and the storms are expected to arrive here in a few hours. Just west of here, in Alabama, a tornado hit a high school and 13 are reported killed there. I'm not sure about the midwest, where this storm originated.

Hope they miss you, 7Sis. Keep safe.
Quoll, saw pics of Canberra in the paper - that hail looked just like a snowdrift!

I can't believe it's snowing out! Big huge flakes the size of a quarter, it started yesterday and doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon.

Thank god, we don't have snow right now but I don't want to jinx it so knock on wood, etc.
