No we havent had Cranford and I am not sure whether I can stomach it or not. I was forced to do it for O levels and LOATHED every word of it. So if you tell me there are some hunkiferous chaps in it I could be tempted otherwise I might just let it slide on by me.

Hunkiferous? I like that! Okay - Joe McFadden or Simon Woods, maybe? John Bowe? Philip Glenister? Greg Wise? "Cranford" also stars Judi Dench, Julia McKenzie, Michael Gambon, Imelda Staunton, Barbara Flynn, Emma Fielding, Julia Sawalha, Francesca Annis, Jim Carter, etc Or you might want to look out for "Larkrise to Candleford" - Ben Miles looks very hunkiferous in that (although maybe not in this pic )! Or Brendan Coyle:

Nothing really floating my boat there. I am not a GW fan - too many shades of Willoughby about him for my liking!

I've just rented "Death At A Funeral," which stars Matthew MacFayden, Rupert Graves, Keely Hawes, and others. It's very quirky and very funny! If you want a laugh, this is a good one.

OK, well if it is AMAZING I may give it a go - may need some aversion therapy but what the heck!!
GW - no scoop other than that he ran off with Kenneth Branagh's wife and I rather felt sorry for Ken at the time. They met on S & S (Emma Thompson was Elinor) - Elinor ran off with Willoughby and I have had him in Willoughby mode ever since. I am sure he is a very nice chap and all.

7 sis, I just rented Death at a Funeral a few days ago. Too funny! We've been watching Keely Hawes in Wives and Daughters, so it was fun to see her in something more recent. Yes, if you like quirky comedies, this is a fun one.

A film called Public Enemies is being filmed here in Chicago with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. It is being filmed in my sisters' back yard (literally) - she had a note in her building that the back alley gate is being unlocked for filming. It is about the 1930's and John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson. She has not seen anyone yet.

I used to think I liked Christian Bale, but I've come to realize that I like him in certain roles and with certain other actors. He's terrific as the Dark Knight but in 3:10 to Yuma they could have swapped anyone for that role. I'm not sure if that's so much a function of him or of Russell Crowe. I liked him in Equilibrium and The Machinist but again in the Prestige, eh. It might have been the presence of Hugh Jackman.
At any rate the film sounds interesting even if the casting seems... strange...

He's terrific as the Dark Knight but in 3:10 to Yuma they could have swapped anyone for that role. I'm not sure if that's so much a function of him or of Russell Crowe. A Crowe trumps a Bale everytime! ;D That said, I've liked Christian since seeing him as a boy in "Empire of the Sun". He's a good, reliable actor, which seems to be a rarity nowadays. Funny, I liked Bale a lot in The Prestige and didn't like Hugh, who up to that point, I'd been a huge fan of. I lost interest in Hugh b/c he seems to have lost interest ... except for that one small part in The Presitige where he looks like he's having fun, which I can't mention here, b/c it is a spoiler for those who haven't seen the movie. I miss the old Hugh with the fire in is eye. Maybe he'll come back someday! BTW, hadn't Greg Wise with gray hair! , he's aged NICELY!
