O.k. how about we start a music thread?
I just ordered Grand Union's two CDs. You know, Ruf's Bros. band. Has anyone else got them?
I also ordered Jim Croce's Grts. Hits & am thinking about getting a Celtic Women CD.
My favorite type of music is smooth Jazz...you know, Jeff Lorber, Kirk Whalum, David Sanborn, Bob James, Acoustic Alchemy..

i LOVE The Beatles, ever since I was in preschool, I started listening to the Beatles, and have read most of the biographies that are published on them, especially on George Harrison (hint my username...his house's name and b-day...I'm wierd like that). My radio station is on the oldies 24/7. I also love Keane, hence my siggy.
I've been playing the piano all my life, so it has gotten me into liking Classical music as well. I like Sinatra, Dino, Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald.
I'm pretty tolerant with the kind of music the radio plays, though I can't stand metal, or really hard core rock music where all you hear is screaming, or rap for that matter. I can listen to one or two songs, but not a whole album.

Oh you're so right about the Beatles gotta love them, its the law even in the States. I really wish I'd taken piano, now I'm probably too old & clumsy. Have you ever heard Keiko Matsui ? She's a Classically Trained Pianist who now plays Smooth Jazz. She's a phenomenal musician and has released several CDs. I have 3 or 4 myself.

My fave genre is industrial/ cyberpunk with industrial goth and progressive rock coming in next and 80's New Wave finally. Fave bands are Victor Love's bands Dope Stars Inc and Epochate. I love RUSH for their technical perfection.
I do enjoy some classical now and then, my fave classical composer being Rachmaninov, with Vivaldi coming in second. However, my fave classical piece is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.
Never been into the Beatles.
For singing, I suit blues and goth best.

I like a variety of music, except rap and really twangy country or "tween" music. I especially love "Weird Al" Yankovic. I've seen him concert five times now and he puts on an amazing show! His bass player, Steve Jay and his guitar player, Jim West, are very talented musicians in their own right and I have a couple of their cds as well. Jim does the most beautiful Hawaiian slack key guitar music and highly recommend checking out his work.
I also love the "oldies" like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, CCR, Three Dog Night and the 80s music I grew up with as well.

I like a variety of music, except rap and really twangy country or "tween" music. I hear ya, sister! Twangy country makes my skin crawl! I can pretty much listen to almost anything too, except for the exceptions you've listed. However, my faves are as I listed. And the funny thing is that in order to keep singing (if you don't use it, you lose it), I practice to a variety of music, just singing along with the recordings to keep my voice working such as Amanda Marshall, Joni Mitchell, Desiree, Chantal K (can't spell her last name at the moment) and even sometimes Keanu Reeves' band DogStar..

I started listening to the fab 4 in utero, literally. Let me explain, when my mom was preggers with me she listened to them when she did her housework, I have been a fan ever since. I have all of the albums, the original 60's releases on vinyl, and have uploaded most of the cd's to my ipod. I love most classical, and jazz, Mulligan, Chet Baker, Brubeck and the Modern Jazz Quartet. Some opera, and most alt. music of the 80's, Elvis Costello, Dave Edmunds and the like.

My music is a bit harder... Gothrock and metal. Nightwish, Doro, Scorpions (the old stuff, can't hear "wind of change" anymore...) and so. But I enjoy also bands like The Mamas and the Papas, Scott McKenzie, Uriah Heep.
Metal should be loud and fast like Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth. (So you won't believe me, that THIS is my music, while I'm working on my spinning wheels...). But you'll find classical cd's too in my rack. I love Smetana!

It's ok kygal, there's a reason for that - Well i remember us riding in my brother's car, Her body tanned and wet down at the reservoir At night on the banks i'd lie awake, And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take Now that memory comes back to haunt me, It haunts me like a curse Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, Or is it something worse
