Okay, I'm going to cut and paste what was said in the February COTM:In light of V-Day, best/funniest/most memorable flirtation/wooing attempt?
Oh, yes!
Honest Courtesan - in the gondola when Marco gives Veronica the book and then tries to kiss her
Charles II - when Charles goes backstage to meet Nell, and she makes him introduce himself, and/or when Catherine offers herself to him on their wedding night, and he is so gentle, but then says they'll wait until she feels stronger.
TOTS - when Petruchio is in Kate's office, wants to kiss her, she refuses and as he's complaining, she grabs him and plants a smacker full on his mouth (excuse me while I just think about that one for a moment... ) and/or the nearly-rape scene, finishing with Kate's disappointed look when he gets off her.
Tristan & Isolde - the wedding night
The Holiday - Jasper visits Iris in LA Martha... - well, almost all Frank/Martha scenes would qualify as memorable wooing attempts, right? At Sachem Farm - isn't he flirty with Kendal before dinner?
I bet there must be a great wooing attempt somewhere in Middlemarch. I'm feeling the breeches today.Feel free to carry on...

HC- trying to woo his wife on their wedding night
TOTS the meeting and talk in the park
I so wish RnR were on film - the little exchange when Jan leaves his brief case behind and they meet in the garden is an understated sweet wooing scene IMHO

Oh, darn, I've just posted this on the other thread: the kissy-kissy scene when Kendal first arrives, in At Sachem Farm - kisses everywhere! *sighhhhh* (I can't believe I forgot this one when I did my other list)
And, Quoll, agree about that R&R scene - magic!

Remember Billy in Gone to Seed? Lying in a hospital bed after she(Alison Steadman) has shot him, he tells her not to blame herself, heartrendingly calls out "I love you" as she leaves the room in tears. So adorable and touching, and he looks so frail.OH, I just noticed this is supposed to be best/funniest /wooing. Well, this isn't funny but then few of the others listed are, either.

This was a touching one, and he really did look so convincingly frail! I also liked an earlier scene after he has realized that he cares for her. He asks her to meet him in a restaurant for lunch, and seems so happy when she pretends that she will meet him, and will consider forgiving him.

May I nominate the scene in Cold Comfort Farm where Seth oh so subtly shoves his crotch in Flora's face...

I must have missed that scene...does it involve him hovering eyelevel(hers) at her breakfast table? heh... well it involves something hovering at eye level... I love this thread. It's really fascinating everyone's idea of "wooing" Just to spice it up a bit let's add: Tim from Dirty Weekend in the famous masturbation call because that's really what's going on, no matter how misguided. Rufus Potter from Dirtysomething actually the character's name is Clive and I'm thinking of the scene at dinner where he's going a little heavy on the charm with Rachel Weisz Citizen Locke in the final scene. If you haven't seen it you can watch it on the multimedia page... actually I should update that. hum...

I didn't see any of those movies, so I can say I loved that one of HC/DB, so romantic, because of the look and the voice too.

A Man of No Importance - driving up to the pub on his bike to meet his girl with Albert Finney watching from inside - he drops the coffee cup (or glass).

Oh, well, if we're including the non-romantic type of wooing, how about the head-under-the-skirt scene from Illuminata?

Oh, well, if we're including the non-romantic type of wooing, how about the head-under-the-skirt scene from Illuminata? um, some might say that's one of the most romantic things you can do for your sweetie. At any rate, it's nice to see some different clips. Keep 'em comin'
