Thanks ,Rue. Joyce - It is growing on me, slowly. Some are definately better written than others. And I love the way Roofs' hair got more natural as the series went on. (Still too much make-up, though). Is anyone (other than the Brits) familiar with Midsommer Murders? ( aka midsommer massacres). It started off as a supposedly straight murder mystery series. It has become a faintly tongue-in-cheek m.m.series. And much beloved of middle England. Has been going for years. ;D Well, this is how I am beginning to view E.H. Laugh out loud every now and then, bite nails at some points, and generally swoon at R, whenever possible. I am not at the 'absolutely love it' stage, yet. But I may get there.

Received my copy of EH (and Vinyan) in the mail today. I watched the first episode earlier tonight. Rufus looked gorgeous......and then he opened his mouth to speak.....It took me bit to get past his American accent. It sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. This from the man with the most eloquent voice I've heard. I know it was his choice to use the accent but it took away from some of the subtle acting he does vocally. Were it me writing the story.....I would have created a back story about why he was in America. He was in US doing a forensic fellowship at Harvard. Decided to stay because of his wife and his attachment to an unsolved crime. I didn't care for the cold FBI fembot. It's quite obvious she is there as Jacob's potential love interest. But in the meantime she acts as a foil to the eccentric genius' unconventional crime solving methodologies. And the tension builds between them.... Rufus is doing a good job with Jacob (minus the dreadful accent).......I'm looking forward to seeing how this character unfolds as i watch more episodes.

I prefer my British Rufus, too However I think the series developed quite well, I've also grown to like Rachel at some time, although her character seemed a little thin in the beginning.

Rachel will grow on you. Fun to see how the professional relationship developes. If it was me, we would have been dating by the end of epi 1.

I'm trying to keep an open mind about the series.....and not pick it apart too much. I do hope Rachel softens and loses the scowl on her face because I just don't see the chemistry between them at this point.

Oh yes, she definitely isn't always scowly. She develops. It just takes a little while.

I agree ladies. It continues to bother me that this show is picked apart like it is. Considering what we do have on tv, its wasnt THAT bad. I am frustrated that we never got to see how it would have developed in another season or two. Thought Rufus gave us an amazing and complex character. Same thing with Zen!

Rachel definitely developed as a character over time. In fact her "scowly-ness" is explained in two later episodes. In "Containment" we find out that her dream job was to work in Counter-Terrorism. And in "Surge" we find our that yes, she did have her dream job - and she was pulled away from it to become Hood's bodyguard. Her resentment of Hood is VERY obvious in the first few episodes.

The accent annoyed me at first too, but somehow was easy to get used to. I'm not a fan of American series, but this one got me. Give Jacob and Rachel some episodes more and I think you'll grow to like them!

Personally, I thought he did an excellent job with the accent. If I'd just seen that and nothing else, I would've thought he was American. Except when he says "victim." But even after saying that a handful of times he got it right. And I think it's certainly better than Simon Baker on The Mentalist, whose Australian accent I can hear peeking out at least a few times every episode. But that might just be me.

I've only just started watching Eleventh hour on iTunes - and I struggled with the accent at first. I've watched 7 episodes now though and it's really grown on me, I love Jacob and Rachel and think it's a real shame it was cancelled. Same with Zen - viewers opinions don't seem to count any more

It's not that I think he's done a bad job with the accent (I found it quite convincing, too), but I love his British one so much that I would have preferred him to be an Englishman in the US in the series. But the more I watch the more I get used to it.

I bet a lot of the American ladies fell in love with Jacob Hood (well why wouldn't you) when they first saw him, but i'll take a bet that they fell in love all over again when they heard him speak English.
He did a great job with the accent in ER though. What can I say, he is an extremely talented guy.....long may he reign
