I don't think that it's for synchronisation. The Illusionist, for example, was released earlier in Germany than in the USA (and was out of cinemas only a week after its release, when I remember correctly... ). I guess, historical interests and viewing habits might have a stronger influence, but I don't know exactly. The only think I definitely know is that I'm fighting a losing battle as being such a great fan of him in a country where even the whole media thing seems not knowing him at all. It's dispiriting at times.

You know, everytime I've seen that pic of Rufe, I've been wondering who he reminds me of.
Now I know.
(*ducks and scurries off*)
Michael Jackson (yikes!)
(yeah, okay - the optician's appointment's in the morning...)

Anyone remember 'This Life'? That look of Rufe's reminds me of Ferdy the motorcycle courier and all-round lust box.

I read recently that 2007 is the 200th anniversary of the death of John Newton, who wrote the lyrics to "Amazing Grace," and that his works are being republished during this year and then donated to a museum in England, after having been in the US since the 1840s. I wonder if the release of the movie was timed for the anniversary? I've mostly heard Wilberforce and Clarkson mentioned in relation to this film.

I have read a couple of articles that said this film was released for the anniversary! John Newton is very well heard of in Christian circles, not just for his songwriting! There was an article in the last couple of days that had a picture of the real Wilberforce..........Ioan looks nothing like him!

Awww, Ioan is a sweetie: C: The other actor I was surprised by was Rufus Sewell, whom you have quite a few scene with. I was doing an interview with the director of THE ILLUSIONIST last year, and I mentioned to him that lately when you cast Rufus Sewell in a role, it's often shorthand for saying his character is a villain. So to see him play someone so good-natured was a nice turn. I'd been wanting to see him return to those kinds of roles again.IG: He's had an amazing career, Rufus. I used to look up to him as a student when I was studying acting. He was the young hot leading man then, which he still is, I think. He should take faith that he can still do that. But he's such a good actor that he can turn his hand to anything. But in this part, he brought so much to it. On the page, there wasn't really that much there. It was an incredible journey that this man had taken, Thomas Clarkson [who brought the abolitionists' cause to Wilberforce], and to get under his skin and put that wig on was very brave, and it turned out beautifully.

Wilberforce takes up ranks with abolitionists such as Olaudah Equiano (Youssou N'Dour), freed slave and author, and the entertainingly eccentric Thomas Clarkson (Rufus Sewell). I like this. This was exactly the way I felt while watching it. it's from: tinyurl.com/24uzms

I've just started seeing AG advertised on my local stations. They do show a quick shot of Rufus. Can't wait to see this one, I do so love eccentric, and eccentric Rufus, what could be better!

I finally saw an ad for AG last night, my first one (not counting YouTube)! It had a tiny little snippet of Rufus (Clarkson) turning his head to the side with a huge grin on his face!
The plans now are that we see this tonight!!! Michelle
