well, peachy, very good observation.
hair long and curly = sexy hair radically short = sexy wig = sexy (most of the time) gel abuse = sexy dirty hair = sexy non-descript hair = sexy
there is definitely a scientific conclusion to be drawn here.
may we then all agree on one general principle = DA GUY IS SEXY!
i bet even GE2 will not try to destroy that one.

Sexy, well yes, he is that. But there's more to him than meets the eye. Sexy can be a superficial thing, he's smart, funny as hell, and so humble, crikey that's the word that I couldn't think of. He is, in a word, refreshing. I am sooooooooooo sick of most of h'wood actors today, nothing but publicity hounds and semi talented to boot. I just saw the last episode of Extras (one of THE best shows ever) where Ricky Gervais mentions the likes of Lohan and celebs going to rehab but calling their publicists first. It's sad really.
I get People mag, I know it's a rag, but fun to look at, the clothes and some pics, and he is never in there, I mean never, save for a good review on EH on it's premiere. That tells you something about the guy. He is humble and one truly amazing and gifted actor, thank you Judi Dench for "discovering" him. Actors like him don't appear that often. Keep being who you are and thank you for all of your amazing performances. With oh so many more to come!

AMEN to that. i think sexy, in this case, is more than "pretty". we see plenty of "pretty", right? yes, he seems humble, and a real "guy". i mean... he could be vain, right? to me, that is sexy. but he also seems to know himself well, and to be sure of himself in a non-cocky way. it takes a strong man to lead the career he has, to handle some roles the way he does. to me, that's sexy too. we're going to see a lot of him in the future, i am sure... he is far from having reached his full potential. an actor like that will never stop to evolve. he is in this for the right reasons. so he might as well be sexy, as well as so talented. adds to the package.
seriously, i keep watching his movies, and i can see the ACTOR learning, improving, working hard but not letting it show (seems so easy...), constantly evolving.
i have seen it so rarely... REAL TALENT, REAL PASSION. i have been a movie fan since i saw "the fantastic voyage" as a child, half hidden behind my father's cap. during all those years, only a handful of actors i can recall had such a splendid evolution as sewell has.
so take the hair theory with a grain of salt. i see the brains underneath the mop! for me, ultimate male sexiness has to do with lots of brains...

Amen to that, couldn't have stated it better myself. I know there are many more projects out there and that the best is yet to come from our green-eyed beauty.

I'm just gonna put this out their in regards to his hair...can someone make sure he never does this again? Good Lord.... I mean the combo, of impossibly shaved face, makeup and straight hair just makes me cringe...why would anyone want Ru to look like that...*shudders*

I've come over here, somewhat belatedly, to partake of the scientific discussion that tipou promised me. Fortunately, she appears to have been fibbing, and I can talk about what's really important.
Admittedly, I'm partial to facial hair, from the slightest hint of end-of-the-evening, loosened necktie stubble to full (but neatly trimmed) beard. That said, I think the most absolutely stunning pictures I have ever seen of Rufus are those of Agammemnon and Ali Baba (especially with the tear-filled eyes when his brother is dead). Sorry I can't post them, but I've seen them online. And if any of you have seen them, I think you will have to agree with my theory that his hair (both facial and ummm, scalpal) and indeed his entire appearance are at their best when he is playing a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern man.
Well, I think I've solved that question. Next?

Is that your hypothesis then? You have a very valid point, but I am on the opposing side. I think he is at his best with shorter hair, at least that's how I'm leaning now. Loved him in TOTS, and found him downright adorable as Ross, in Uncorked, 'specially with the glasses.
In a word he is just about perfect in just about anything.

Yes, I think that will have to be my official stance. I am prepared to defend it at least until someone posts some other hot picture to change my mind.
However, I do agree that the short hair can be very very good too, as in Tristan + Isolde (helped along quite a bit by the stubble). The character of Ross is extremely adorable, and huggable, but not quite as heart-breakingly sexy as the fellows I mentioned previously.

How about Charles, when the wig thingy comes off, very nice indeed. Or In A savage Land, that's nice too! I don't like the stubble thing whatsoever.

In a word he is just about perfect in just about anything. i guess, in the end, that this is the only scientific theory that will ever work & satisfy every scientist involved in this research. that, or: [glow=red,2,300]RUFUS RULES![/glow]

Ooooh, robbiesheik, THANK YOU! Everybody here always plays so nice.
Those are not just hot but stunning! I love that top pic. That expression could melt the hardest heart.
I haven't figured out how to do the quotey thing yet, so I guess I'll just have to add a final "amen" to peach and tipou's extremely scientific conclusions.

Peach, I forgot to say I've never seen In a Savage Land. Is it worth going to strenuous efforts to find it?
