Maxx, sorry if I may have come across badly, purely unintentional. Politics can become a hotbed of emotion and you are right.

Yeah me using the term "tricked out" doesn't mean I'm racist. It's a term that my generation uses in everyday language, but if me using it makes me racist, then I give in. It's fine.
I voted for the man, and I hope to God that he can prove the naysayers wrong, me included. Because I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong. I just for some reason have a bad feeling about this...just like I have for the last eight years.
And Slick Willie was the president that got us into the black (financially speaking of course) after Poppa Bush put us into the red. Just thought I would make that point.
And Maxx...I'm done, no more politics from me. I just like having intelligent conversations and or debates about topics like politics and religion, it's something that fascinates me.
Onward with the PC rants...

DGD, I too like having intelligent conversations as well. People I work with I am convinced do not read the paper nor watch the news. That's why I liked this thread. Perhaps just one more comment, you are not a racist, and secondly, I too hope for the best with our new President, we are paying for the extreme excesses for the past 16 years or so. Your other comment however sounded ominous concerning your bad feeling. Let's hope that passes.
I have several pet peeves, tailgaters, closed minded people, and oversized SUV drivers.

OMG, someone who actually agrees w/me. I love when those that I know defend their use of overbloated trucks, I hate them. I kinda wished gas had gone to 10 bucks a gallon just to see them pay thru the nose. I mean really do ya need a Humvee to get a gallon of milk???

Or the idiots who have the two ton doulee with the lift kit and knobby tires that looks like a great off-road vehicle and then some idiot gets out and you can tell they never take it offroading? I swear some of em have these trucks just to overcompensate. Makes me want to steal their trucks and drive them through a couple of mud pits.

I drive a large SUV! =p Then again I need it with 3 kids, believe me it has lowered my stress. All because they don't have to sit on top of one another. lol
Here is my rant for today.
I work in retail so I could go on and on but I will just start with this...
I hate people who come in and expect me to break my neck and run for them allll because THEY are in a hurry. I'm sorry but I have until 4:30pm and if you had come in with some respect and patience you would have gotten what you wanted a lot faster. Rule #1 on shopping...be as nice as possible to the person serving you. (unless they are just flat rude of course) You will get much better service and they will (usually) go out of their way to help you. All because you showed some respect and treat them like a person instead of being a *****. Most people ARE very nice and courteous but there are always those select few who treat everyone like they are dirt under their feet.
Whew! I feel better now. : )

good for you rainy !!!!!!!!
i can tolerate suv's because they are on their way out - sorry, rainy, but lets face the truth - but one thing that drives me berserk is a hummer.
i read this story in a magazine, last year, from the reader's mail, i just hope to god its true.
the writer was a teenager, and apparently his hair was green at the time. so he is walking towards the local mcdonald's, when this hummer drives in and almost runs him over. he gets mad, so he hits on the side of the truck with his fist. once inside the mcdonald's, he is met by the driver, who starts screaming at his face, calling him a stupid punk and all that. it so happens that a very senior citizen walks up to them from the seating area, and he says "hey, i saw what happened in the parking". so the hummer driver says, "thank you sir, tell the airhead what you think". so the old man turns to the hummer driver and screams "you are the stupid asshole driving a hummer, so who are you to teach anything to anyone? you apologize right now to this nice young man." apparently, a dozen or so people started to applaud, so the hummer guy walked out in a fury.
i just love this story!!!!

my turn to rant... i am not the most tolerant person (short switch), so reasons to rant will never be hard to find. what drives me mad: (NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST) drivers following me too close slow drivers in front of me david caruso people who cant admit their mistakes people who ask me to do a painting for them, but it has "to match their sofa" guys who strive to strip sexily, but think the coup de grace is to finish off by taking their socks off appliances that do not work as they are supposed to wearing pink sales people who try to sell me a lawnmower when all i need is a bottle of aspirin people on tv who say hmmm every 10 seconds monday mornings people who think that "rufus sewell" is an asian town hockey commentators who say "in my book..." a middle-aged guy who has the best sound system in his car, and blasts michael bolton through the speakers because he thinks that will drive the girls crazy arriving late at the office blood pudding people who act as if they are alone in the supermarket when the store is full people who spend hours at the ATM at rush hours my boyfriend's job, becuase it keeps him away 50% of the year -30 outside flat tires macho guys with iq's below 90 THANK YOU DGD, THAT FELT SOOOOOOOOO GOOD. I have to agree with you on all counts...except I have a husband and I wish his job kept him away 50% of the year. I guess after 25 years of marriage it would be nice to have alone time and him not always underfoot. Also where do you live that it gets -30 degrees outside? and people who ask you to do a painting for them, but it has "to match their sofa" I am not an artist but I can understand your frustration. In addition to those pet peeves, I also have a few of my own... Able bodied people parking in handicapped parking spots Telemarketers who call me by my given name instead of Mrs. or Ms. Jones women (or men) who wear so much fragrance as to make me cough when I am near them Tom Cruise I am sure I have more I just can't think of them right now. Thanks DGD for the thread. I will refrain from political comment; although I am dying to share my opinion, I spare all of you. Pitzel

I work for dishnetwork/echostar satelite tv and these are some of my biggest, work-related pet peeves. The first is people who call in for technical support who then refuse to do the trouble-shooting steps I ask them to do or question me every step of the way. They act like they know more than me, an advanced technical support rep, when they can't even find the menu button on the flippin' remote! Or worse, they act like I'm asking them to do heavy physical labor when I tell them to press a few buttons. I even had a customer demand that I give him credit on his bill because he was "doing work that a tech does". He didn't get anything; pressing a few buttons isn't that hard and if you find it that physcically stressful, seriously, get to a doctor because there's something wrong with you!
I also hate the custmers who go on and on complaining about things I have no control over. I had a customer Tuesday night who kept me on the phone fifteen minutes after I fixed the problem, complaining about everything from "all the crap program on these damn channels" to the number of commercials and finally, about the "greedy auto industry bastards." The more I tried to empathize and explain to him that dishnetwork has no control over programming content or the number of commercials, the more ticked off he became! He was undter the delusion that because he was paying for the service, it somehow meant he wouldn't be seeing as many commercials and I couldn't make him understand that he'd be getting the exact same number of commercials if he was using "rabbit ears"! What he thought I could do about the auto industry, I have no idea.

That's the truth! They are truly on the way out which is why I got such a great deal on mine. It probably lowered my medical bills by relieving my stress though! I do hate a hummer. Personally I think they are hideous and much to large. (mine isn't nearly that size) On to my rant for today! My son has autism. He can have what we call a "meltdown" at any time when he gets overwhelmed by things. This has happened in stores etc.. I understand the stares, It is human nature and does not offend me at all. What DOES offend me is when people make comments like "well if that was my child I would blahblahblah", or worse. Do not assume you know everything about everyone and that your answer is the right one. I usually turn to the person and say something like "Well I am thankful that you do not have to deal with him either. His special needs just might overwhelm a simple minded person." Sorry but I get angry and a little harsh when it comes to my children. lol

Rainy, good for you! How judgmental people can be about children. And a big hug to you, I can't imagine how much more difficult it is to raise a special needs child.
A big huge hug to you for not letting others' ignorant comments affect you.
