...and yes, melina was a surprise! i guess everyone has to start somewhere, a mute role is still a role, plus she was gorgeous. And she got to kiss Rufus, a definite plus! I wonder if they've run into each other at any CBS functions? I remember reading a story about an actor who was getting ready to do a love scene. I can't remember the exact quote but he told the actress basically, "Please don't be insulted if I become aroused and please don't be insulted if I don't become aroused." It's kind of a lose/lose situation for the guy.

Ambra,
I knew you'd enjoy this one, it is beautifully filmed Venice is one of my favorite cites, it's so beautiful and hasn't changed much either. The locale certainly helped, Ru's scenes go without saying, I like this one alot.

I recently saw 6 episodes of Moonlighting with commentary from director, Cybil Shepherd and Bruce Willis. Apparently their famous love scene was filmed with them standing up. In their case, Willis had a fractured clavicle from a ski accident.Apparently, its also more flattering as their faces and other attractive bits don't get flattened out as in a horizontal position. So, since hearing that, I've wondered about the DB romp shot ..but Rufus's face looked somewhat realistically flattened. Still, I want to have another look when I have the time.

Well, ladies, my sister and I were finally able to watch our copy of DB last night (Sunday). I had read most of the posts in this thread so I was somewhat aware of what to expect. I was surprised when I read on the back cover of the DVD that it was based on a true story. I wonder if I can find any of Veronica's poetry in print now? I'll check at Borders and Barnes & Nobel and let you know. We loved this movie, so beautifully filmed with rich dialogue to match. Catherine M. was perfect in this role. Such a beauty she is. Rufus was very believable and, may I say, delicious !! I particularly liked the scene during the inquisition when he would be filled with anger and disgust. Then his whole sense of being changed and softened when he watched her speak to defend herself. As I've said on this forum many times before, Ruf possess and emits such acting genius. I don't know how actors/actresses can perform in the love/sex/nude scenes as were in this movie. They were very beautifully done, I just don't know how they can get through it I've read on this thread that Catherine had a body double for one/some of the nude scenes. I could not tell which ones they were. It appeared to be her face in all of the scenes ?? Do any of you know what Veronica drank after her first time to keep her from getting pregnant? I am not aware of this "remedy" and this was the first time I ever observed a scene regarding it in a movie. I would like to see Catherine M. and Rufus in a movie together again, something current. I don't know what their chemistry was off screen during this movie, but their on-screen chemistry was definitely evident. Any thoughts on that ?? Guess what happened to me this morning that made me almost burst into laughter ?? After my doctor appointment, I had to stop at the grocery store. What do I see on display and on sale as soon as I walked through the doors? Yes, BANANAS on sale for 67 cents a pound. Yes, 67 cents a pound is a little high in price, but I must clarify that they are large bananas. I stifled my laughter, and just let my face and lips turn up into a silly smile. I will never look at bananas the same way again !!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, one of my fav roofy movies. Dont you just love the scene when he's singing in the gondola Yes. I do.I really, really, really do. Here is a random thing I noticed in Dangerous Beauty: The very opening scene shows Veronica Franco in what I now think was a sitting for the very painting that Marco was staring at when he was told by his father he had to get married. You guys think so?

Famke, you may be on to something there vs. the painting and the opening photo of Catherine. I do love DB, especially the opening scenes where Marco and Veronica meet again for the first time, and then later , their embrace in the boat. His fresh , guileless face in glorious technicolour closeup! Too much!!

Dreamer,
Thank you so much for the info about Veronica Franco. I became very interested in her life and writings after I saw DB a few months ago. After reading about her online, I realized that her poems and letters were actually published. So, I checked Amazon and found and purchased "Veronica Franco Poems and Selected Letters", Edited and translated by Ann Rosalind Jones and Margaret F. Rosenthal. Ms. Rosenthal is the author of "The Honest Courtesan" on which Dangerous Beauty was based. Veronica's portrait by Tintoretto is pictured in the book along with the letter of thanks that Veronica wrote to him. I highly recommend this book to you and all the ladies on the board. Her poems and letters are written with thoughtful insight and soulful beauty. Veronica was truly so far ahead of her time in dealing with the rights and respect of all women, not matter what their amount of physical beauty, class or educational level in life may be.
