Me and my broken wrist

Please forgive me the indulgence of a thread about this, but I didn't want to clutter up the games with the sorry saga.
First off, though, grateful thanks to Tipou, Catdishy and Peach for your concern and good wishes.
It's all due to heavy snow we're having here. We rarely get snow of any consequence where I live, so it was quite a shock to wake up yesterday to a heavy fall. The transport system ground to a halt, so I walked to work. I was only a few minutes from the office when I fell on my backside the first time - my feet just went out from under me, but all that was dented was my pride! I picked myself up and carried on, then my feet went out from under me again, only this time it was my wrist that broke my fall. I managed to get to the office before I burst into tears - the first aider took one look at the angle and how much it was swelling, and took me to the local hospital. Even then I was hoping it was just a bad sprain as then it really didn't hurt all that much - just REALLY ached, but no sharp pain.
Anyway, I was there 6 hours - 5 of them just waiting around to be examined, x-rayed, treated, plastered, x-rayed again and then final check.
I have a clean break, but the radius (or was it the ulna? Whichever is the inner/lower one) had telescoped in on itself and displaced the wrist-bone, so the doctor had to try to manipulate them back into place - he and the nurse literally did a tug of war on my arm, and then he bent my wrist right back and twisted it at all angles to get the wrist bone back. Yes, I did have painkillers and a local anaesthetic first, but it still hurt!
The good news is that he got everything back virtually where it should be, otherwise it would have meant surgery at a different hospital today. Won't know yet about any long-term damage. The bad news is, it's my right wrist and I'm right-handed, and I have to be in a cast for 6 weeks. I'm hoping this temporary plaster cast will be changed to a lightweight one when I go to the fracture clinic, but the earliest they can see me is Thursday of next week.
Right now the wrist itself is just really aching (I'm on meds every 3 hours) but my shoulder is very painful, from the manipulation and the weight of the cast.
As you can see, I'm practising my left-handed typing! I will still be around, but maybe not so much as usual.......on the other hand, while I'm off work (no way am I going out while the weather's like this), I'll have to keep amused somehow! You don't get rid of me that easily!
Thanks again for your concern.
