Besides the fact that it didn't tie in with the rest of the story at all, it really bugged me that they wasted SO much time on that scene when other things were hurried or not explained. For example, when Jacob and Rachel see the scientist at the hospital at the end and she asks about the memorial service, and says something like, "You might not think a person like me would care, I can be a b*tch" I was thinking, why would they think that? They never met her until after she'd been shocked by the microwave and had no conversation with her at all except to identify the bad guy. Was there some relevant interaction that was lost so that we could see the director's special extended cut of the lap dance? And even though I'm not big on chase scenes, I wouldn't even have minded if they'd put in more than 3 seconds of the pursuit of bad Dr Tom before he got hit by the great big bug zapper in the sky. The whole thing was just stupid.
And why doesn't Dr Hood have a middle name? I'm going to pretend he does and it's something he doesn't like. Maybe Myron or Ichabod. Or his mother's maiden name. Like Peabody.

I know very, very few people without middle names. Actually none that I can come up with off the top of my head.
If Rufus doesn't like Ichabod, let him come here and tell me personally.

I never said "liar". It was perfectly understandable subterfuge, meant to protect his psyche from flashbacks to childhood torment. We understand, Jacob Ichabod! Or Jacob Peabody! Come visit, because it's not too late for you to have some input in the dreadful name.

I know quite a few people with no middle name. More normal than most people think I'd say.

Oh, how could I possibly take that in any way other than a compliment? Probably it is. Basically I'm just trying to focus on something other than the dreadful plot. Usually I'll find any slim excuse to go back and rewatch, but probably the only scene I'd bother with this time is the middle name/drowning story.

What also bothers me is the huge discrepency between the supposed contagiousness of the nano-filament and the actual outbreak. They're all concerned about the people from the company who came into contact with the strippers and may have passed the bug on but if it's that contagious, anyone who caught it at the retreat would be spreading it like crazy among their family and friends and those people would in turn spread it to others. It would've been more believable if those that were infected caught it from being in a particular area of the research facility and the nano-filament could only be transferred skin to skin within a very limited timeframe. If it was as contagious as they said, more people would've died from casual contact with electrical appliances like the guy in the truck.

Great point, ambra. There didn't seem to be a lot of logic involved in the plot, did there? What about people who got on a plane and took a trip after exposure? I think containment is a lot more complicated than they made it out to be.

This was the first time I felt annoyed while watching the show. Before now, the enjoyment of Rufus was enough to carry me through, but the dialogue seemed especially inane last night and there were a couple of times when I thought that if I wasn't crazy about Rufus, I would have been irritated with his character -- the mumbling, the breathiness, the hesitation, it's all becoming a little too routine (particularly when there's nothing interesting being said). And as others have mentioned, I didn't think the usual camaraderie was there, except at the very end. Poor episode. Let's hope it's an aberration and not the new trend!

Perhaps we can saddle some of the writers from CSI and haul them over to EH, is it me or is he looking a bit downtrodden? Crikey he deserves to much better, are the writers aware of how talented he is?

Rufus told me the show was getting better but it would have its "dips up and down" - guess he was talking about Electro.
Being from New England, the dude saying "wicked hot" or something like that at the strip club - his thick Boston accent is not to be found in Springfield (western Mass). I grew up not far from there and we don't sound anything like that, believe me. Typical stereotypes for the masses, thank you genius writers and research assistants.
And I would have paid $20 for that stripper to keep her clothes on - her body did nothing for me! ;D

Here's a scene that would've made more sense than the strip club: Thomas had just been saying some of the employees were getting together for a memorial for the woman who died. Instead of a strip club, they should've shown the employees gathered at a restaurant or pub, talking about their co-worker. They could've still gotten the "shock" in with an employee touching a waitress or another co-worker. It would've made more sense and they could've used characters that actually had something to do with the storyline, including the bad guy. Maybe they could've even had Rachel, Hood, and Felix there in another part of the bar/restaurant, talking about the case so when the electrocution occured they would've already been on the scene plus we would've had more interaction between our main characters.
