Okay, not one of the better episodes, but I didn't think it was as bad as some of you found it.
Totally agree about the gratuitous lap-dancing. Felix could have been used more than, as Ambra said, just a gopher. And I see Rachel is also now suffering from breathy-speaking syndrome at times.
Rueful, re the female scientist at the hospital, unless there was originally a scene where Jacob and Rachel were told about her not wanting to attend the memorial service for that first woman who died, maybe it was just the scriptwriters trotting out that other female stereotype, the dedicated-so-has-to-be-b*tchy professional?
I did like Jacob's sly comment of "that could be difficult" when Felix said he wasn't just going to use gloves "but a whole rubber suit - if I can get it."
Even if the scripts see-saw, at least Rufus is getting better looking each week!

They made such a point of foreshadowing that last scene, in the scene with the bad scientist when he asked her about going to the other woman's service. But it was just so random for her to admit to being cold or b*tchy to J + R, two people she'd barely met, and to assume that they'd know what she was talking about when she said, "I know I must seem..." or whatever she said. So the writers vaguely remembered something from their literature/writing classes, but they didn't learn that ultimately the goal is less about clever foreshadowing and more about making sense. I'd probably be less stereotypically b*tchy professional woman about it if they hadn't wasted 5 precious plot-development minutes on that strip club scene. edited to add: You sure are right about Rufus looking great! I guess I should just shut my mouth and enjoy the view.

GE2, Yes, I agree with your opinion of "Electro".
Rai, Thanks for giving us Rufus' input on the ups and downs of the EH episodes. I think that the writing could definitely be better. Rufus is such an acting genius. He deserves the best.
But no matter what our criticisms may be, Rufus continues to getter better and better, and look more gorgeouser and more gorgeouser (is that a word??? ..... it is now !!) It does appear that there's a little more gray showing in his hair ( which I love). And it seems that there is less make up on his face. He has such a beautifully sculpted face, he needs very little make up. That's just my humble hormone-filled opinion.

Spice, I'm liking that grey in his hair too. Hmmmm.... This episode didn't irk me as much as it did most of you. I enjoyed the science aspect as I always do. The car scene with Hood and Rachel and the story therein about his almost drowning was the best part of the show though. The show could have been written better certainly. As for the pole strpper scene, if that sort of scene were prevalent in EH, I would be bothered by it. Rather, I found myself admiring her skill. Strippers are a normal part of many men's lives whether we ladies like it or not.... Besides which, we get our eye candy with our appreciation of Rufus' bod when he does shirtless or nude scenes in movies... Why should the guys not get some eye candy now and again?

Hey, they get more than their fair share of eye candy on today's television--I demand equal time! I mean, how come Jacob was tweaking on PCP in the shower but still had the presence of mind to get dressed immediately, but the (extremely flexible) stripper didn't realize that she was going to get pneumonia wearing that tiny outfit and put on a parka?

that kind of puzled me to, that he would have the presence of mind to get dressed, so convenient for camera work.
again, its not so much that there was a girl pole dancing, but that it had nothing to do with the story, and that this scene was cheaply and gratuitously attached to the script.
rufus stone AND naked would have been good for ratings! would have made me an EH fan for life, that much is sure - and it would have been logical with the story.
but, sorry, the pole dancer was not. whether she was good looking or not, talented or not, she had no place in this story.
if it had been a scene involving 2 large teddy bears dancing a polka, we would all agree. but it would not have been more displaced than this whole sequence.
so i guess the sex angle always works.

i agree that I want my fair share of male eye candy. it's the same with those ta-ta coffee stands that seem to be popping up everywhere. Ok fine, the guys....and some girls want some flesh with their mochas, but why can't there be ones that have well built men in nothing but shorts and bow-ties for us men loving ladies? Oh that's right...it's okay for women to run around half naked using their bodies to make a living, but men should never have to be reduced to that right?
Go ahead, call me bitter.

I won't call you bitter, but instead spot-on! I hate that my daughter is constantly told, everywhere she looks, that her body is her most valuable asset. That's why I like that Rachel dresses relatively professionally, even if her blouses are a bit tight. At least she's not dressed like the women in the various CSI labs, who look like they're ready to go do a little pole dancing of their own after work.
