That one line was a big problem to me too, because it totally took me out of the moment--she might as well have turned to the camera and said, "As you may or may not know, dear viewers, methamphetamine is also known as...."
Great point, Kate. They chose to emphasize character a little bit over plot this time, and since I very much like the characters, I'm ok with that. My standards of plot development may have been a little lowered by some of the previous eps, but overall I thought the story was gripping the whole way through, so I really enjoyed it.
Thanks very much for the pics, Robbie and Dreamer! Gorgeous!

DREAMER and ROBBIESHEIK, I too must thank you so much for the beautiful, fabulous, wonderful pics of that perfect man. Those pics will have to sustain me until I see him again in the next season, I hope and pray.

And may I just say....Rufus is HOTT when angry. I loved his interactions with the deputy director...yell some more Rufus, the ratings will go up...lolAnd the ending set me up perfect for my naughty little fanfic.....my muse is whispering to me. Bwahahahaha! Oh, DGD, I must say, this episode... well...first of all, Ruf has Jacob quite commanding- and the little Authentic Submissive in me just melted when he said "good girl" (total trigger words for me when said "just so" as he did), so I was glued even more than usual to Ruf throughout the whole episode... and the sexy angry Ruf... plays further into my fantasies.... like .. oh, if I had a chance I would misbehave... "And what shall be my punishment, my Lord?" ~bats eyelashes~ OMFG, Rufus ... just Collar me and let's go with this, dammit! Oh, but I am in a peculiar state of... whatever today. ~heavy sigh~

Yes, he was quite the alpha male in this episode! Very appealing on several levels. As a Catholic child I was often warned about "occasions of sin," defined as, "persons or things that entice one to sin." Rufus is definitely an occasion of sin for me, but I sure don't plan to avoid him. After all, I have years to repent.

TV Guide brutally PANNED Harper's Island the temporary replacement for Eleventh Hour. "Want some cheese with that blood?", "Harper's Island does everything in its power to annoy or bore you to death," "The characters are so vapid and interchangeable that when they perish, it feels more like a mercy killing for them and for us".
Gawd! Bad enough no Rufus Sewell on screen, but the temp might harm the time slot. CBS better have a lot of fanfare when EH returns.

RUEFUL, I have to respond to your post above naming Rufus as "an occasion of sin". My sister and I are both Catholics, yes even practicing Catholics. I know exactly what you mean... I told my sister what you wrote and we had quite a laugh. I think it was during the second episode of EH that I told my sister that we were watching an "occasion of sin" right before our very eyes. We discussed how nice looking he is and also noted that he had probably been a "very bad boy" during is youth ..... and beyond Rueful, now remember that we were also taught that we are responsible for our own sins. So, let's not blame Ruf for our own weaknesses. In fact, it was God who created Ruf as the handsome/sexy man he is. So what are we to do Just pray to God for mercy and quickly slip in another prayer that we are able to channel all of our attraction to Rufus to positive energy directed toward his own salvation and well being. And it really helps to eat chocolate !!!!!!!!!

LOL, Spice, I practice too, but so far practice has not made perfect! Regarding Rufus, that's really funny that you had the same thought. And although you are quite right, we are responsible for our own behavior, I prefer to find someone else to blame--it's so much more convenient when trying to sleep at night. I try not to think about the line, "God made man in his image," because then I feel myself teetering toward extreme blasphemy! I'm glad someone else understands "occasion of sin"--how about "offer it up"? LOL! I haven't tried that one yet (well, obviously I eat chocolate, but not as an outlet for sinful thoughts). I think you, your sister, and I would get along very well!

well, if now producers and writers don't see the potential, they never will. the story was spread a bit thin for my taste, but at least there was a credible one! and how about this intense acting OMG anyone still doubting my girl marley? and rufus... well... he was rufus. enough said, as peach would say. awful bad timing though that this last episode felt like a season's first episode... a bit late to up the quality, me thinks.

and Less complicated, perhaps, but without the oh-so-enjoyable guilt that may eat away at you in the wee hours of the morning but makes the sin that much more thrilling. I take back every bland food item I ever compared Rachel to. The character has turned into a real girl. (Hey, maybe that's what Gepetto was up to all along!) Marley has been fine, but not always given much to work with by the writers. This time she was, and she was great.

Rather belatedly, at last I've been able to watch this episode (curses to those broken/frozen links), and can only echo the praise it has received (while also agreeing with some of Rai's quibbles!). Finally they gave Rufus a script to get his teeth into, and if they had only set the beam this high earlier in the run, we could be feeling a lot more confident about its future. Rufus angry, Rufus worried, Rufus tender = Rufus gorgeous! And as for this: *Swoon* That's the very frame I paused on at the end. Soooooooooo sweet an expression on his face. Thanks, Laura!
