One of the things that captivates me most about Rufus are his many imperfections. They somehow come together creating a man more breathtaking to behold than any other on this earth.
His hair (Gahhh)... totally unruly... His voice...hoarse and sexy (melting)... His eyes (gawd I love the eyes)... is one lazy (strabismus) or are they just two very different shapes?
I have also noticed that Ruf has some pretty major scars on his face: a deep one above the right side of his mouth and another large one in his left eyebrow.
Does anyone know the story behind these scars?
..and now he has the gorgeous grey in his hair and beard. (sigh)
What are YOUR favorite of Rufus' imperfections?

Good question, famke. I've also wondered about his scars. Like most scars, they probably derive some from mundane little accident, but it's fun to imagine they came from some thrilling adventure.
The very tiny flaws help to keep his face, which is really so classically beautiful, alive and human. His face and his eyes are so expressive. There's such intelligence there. He shows more with his eyes than some so-called actors do with their entire flailing, hammy body.
As for imperfections, thinness-obsessed Hollywood might prefer people without an ounce of body fat, but Rufus has gone up and down a little in weight sometimes to suit particular roles (brave of him!). So some people might consider it an imperfection, which is kind of sad since it's probably only 5 or 10 pounds, but I actually like a bit of extra weight on him--it looks more manly to me, as opposed to boyish. So, I prefer the look in Helen of Troy, In a Savage Land, Charles II, or Vinyan, as opposed to Dark City or Gone to Seed (although I can certainly appreciate the chiseled body too--I'm not totally crazy).

Hi, there... Ladies, What a great idea for a thread !!! Yes, I too have noticed the differences in his eyes and those sexy scars on his fabulous face. Have you also noticed that there is a mole or cyst just under his left lower lip ?? These are my feelings: The imperfections on Ruf's face are purely "perfect imperfections". Amen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm generally attracted to people who have a unique beauty. People who are good looking in a 'perfect' or 'typical' way are sort of boring to me.

i notice - and i like - sexy as hell so i am with famke and rueful on this i guess Yes exactly! Sexy as Hell- well said! and I loved what rueful said: "The very tiny flaws help to keep his face, which is really so classically beautiful, alive and human." So engaging and interesting to stare at...watch. Men that are too "pretty" give me the willies....like Jude Law...EWWWW! Hand me a barg bag PLEASE. Give me a real man! Speaking of real men...OMG Lord Marke. He might be my fave Rufus now...(I had never seen Tristan & Isolde...can you believe that!?)

Lord Marke. That movie might have been a box office hit if they had marketed it properly, to women, as the tragedy of noble, just (and gorgeous) Lord Marke when he is betrayed by his ungrateful, brainless adopted son, rather than to teenagers as the tragedy of a selfish, whiny adolescent. (Or maybe if Tristan had been played by a real, live boy rather than Pinocchio.) And to get back on the "perfect imperfections" track, Lord Marke's wooden (iron?) hand did nothing to diminish his attractiveness ;D

I noticed his scars on his left(?) eyebrow and above his top lip on the right(?) and as most people have said, they make him unique and very interesting visually. His face is beautiful (I use that word about him alot don't I?) I have tried to analyze why I feel the way I do about Rufus...his eyes perhaps? His manner? I have come to the conclusion that it just 'is'...his whole persona....he oozes a depth of emotion and sexuality that overwhelmes me...he did it back in 1992/3 and he still does it to this day.
