I hope the miniseries follows the book. They rarely do. But if so, then the series should be good!!

Thanks for letting us know, Rai. Your ability to keep a secret is very impressive! It really sounds like a wonderful story. Now I have to decide if I want to read the book first or not! Decisions, decisions.... I know what you mean! Not that good at reading, me. Makes me fall asleep. Going on holiday to England on Sunday for two weeks. May take it with me and see if I can't get some chapters down before nodding off. Rai

I love to read, but my eyes also get so heavy sometimes, especially late at night when I actually would have the most time for reading. Maybe next time you talk to Rufus you can suggest that he record Pillars of the Earth as an audiobook for you. I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Exciting news! I haven't been around lately but this news about "The Pillars of the Earth" was enough to bring me back to say yay! It's a wonderful book and should make a fantastic mini-series. And Tom Builder is of good character, so no bad guy role for Rufus this time! Yay again!

Have a lovely holiday rai. Here in the south east of England it is raining on and off but we are having some very nice warm days too..perfect growing weather; the countryside is looking very beautiful and green!! I am off down to London next week to meet up with a friend that has just moved in to a new flat. I haven't been back there for 6 months but I guess not much has changed. Good old London, always great for a day/night out.

OKAY who are the lucky people on this board from Canada, Germany, Spain, Austria and Hungary!!?? www.variety.com/article/VR1118004706.html?categoryId=19&cs=1and... While we wait for Pillars to get picked up in the US and UK..... Let's All Sing Along With Cookie Monster!!!One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong, Can you tell which thing is not like the others By the time I finish my song?
Did you guess which thing was not like the others? Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong? If you guessed this one is not like the others, Then you're absolutely...right!

Ruf could be McShane's long lost son, only much prettier.

Does anyone know if they've cast the part of "Ellen" yet? I don't have my book anymore but I believe she was Tom's love interest. She's a very integral part of the story and they better cast her well!

What wonderful news. I have been praying for the longest time that he'd get a COOL project like this! I am beyond thrilled about this. I feel like Petruchio to his Kate: "I like everything about you..." Literary adaptation, a period piece, a leading man-type and a lover role for our dear Rufus, and with BOTH of my other favorite actors in the cast too (Sutherland and Macfadyen). Just unreal. Cast Kate Winslet (knock on wood) and I'll be over the moon.
