You timed it?? If you like historical fiction, you will love this book. It's quite long but it kept my interest, which is rare for me and long books. The 2nd book "World without End" is long too and not as good. I just hope that the miniseries follows the book. I've been disappointed too many times.

(Have a great holiday, Rai - I have to warn you, though, I'm on leave your second week here, plus Wimbledon starts, so best to pack your umbrella!) I've been looking at the long-range forecast and it doesn't look good. But as they say in New England (and Old England) if you don't like the weather, wait a minute. That's what I'm hoping for. Rai

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERSWichi, i've just started reading the book properly but first did a quick skim to get an idea of how meaty the role would be and how long it lasted and i cried twice even though i wasn't even reading it properly. The birth of the baby & it's aftermath was really sad (Roofie get's to deliver a baby, yay) & then the terrible blow from the horse's hoof. I won't be wanting to watch that particular scene i don't think. Overall though it looks like a fantastic role for Rufus with love & babies & manual labour!!! And i'm with you - i hope the miniseries follows the book!!!!

I have also read up on the story and the character of Tom Builder will be an interesting one for him to play no doubt. Rufus in the 12th century, now there is a very perfect combination of factors for me!!!

Just found this additional tidbit....
The Pilars of the Earth, an old-school mini-series (8 hours) added some big names to their cast this week when Ian McShane, Donald Sutherland, and Rufus Sewell all joined the cast. Production begins later this month and although the US rights have yet to be agreed to, it's expected to premiere sometime this fall. The project is based on the best selling book of the same name by Ken Follett…

This will be a really nice piece of work for him to do, especially being so close to London; it is only about one and a half to two hours flying time; nice for him to be close to Billy.

Hi Terri mac,
I am a long time admirer of Rufus Sewell, ever since I fell under his spell watching him in Gone to Seed all those years ago!! I have followed his career on and off over the years but I have been truly entranced since TOTS and now Eleventh Hour. He is adorable and a wonderful actor and I am now officially 'his'!!!

Welcome back Terri Mac. I categorize fan girls by before EH and after. I joined a few months before we had word of the series so I consider myself an old timer too. I am glad EH gave many more people a glimpse of what Rufus can do. I know this new project will show his intense talent.
