YES!!! Not a bit surprising.
Now, I wonder if when Emmy nominations are announced he will be remembered in the Best Actor category?

Yes but it could only be by next years Emmy awards because the nominations for this year are already outspoken. (The Emmys are aired on August 29). So we need our fingers crossed for next year!

Oh, rueful, judy, nell and nicole............ As soon as I heard about Rufus being in TPOTE, I immediately thought...."Maybe this will really be IT for him. He will get the chance to be recognized for the superb actor he is". I was hesitant to speak it out loud for fear even saying the words may put a jinx on his chances. We must all think positive thoughts............

I always believe talent will win out. He is wonderful in the role of Tom Builder and thre is an ease to his acting that makes it seem like he is not acting especially around the boys, The father in him does come out. I really find him to be simply amazing. Beautiful aand talented.

Good find Martina. I'll give him low key magnetism. Does he not realise Tom is off the scale ? ;D You can tell that was written by a bloke ! I can't help wondering if the series is eligible for a BAFTA Television award. It's not actually a British production I know but I think Scott Free had a branch in England. Fingers crossed for next year Of course it has to actually get shown here first !

I liked "low-key magnetism" too. It does a great job of conveying Rufus's subtlety as Tom. However, I have translated that from reviewer-speak to the following: "Not hammy, over-the-top-magnetism, but natural, inevitable, inexorable, like-the-forces-of-gravity-that-dictate-the-tides magnetism." No doubt the author would have written that, but his editor wanted to save the space. Thanks for posting that link, Martina! Thanks for your link too, Nell! Construction workers all around the world are going to suffer by comparison to Tom the Builder, aren't they?

The "low-key magnetism" comment reminded me of Stephen Fry's description of Rufus: "He's a beast, Rufus, an absolute beast! He gives off pheromones like abattoirs give off excrements. It is quite extraordinary! You have to nail some people down when Rufus walks into a room." He doesn't have to do anything except walk into a room and then everyone else ... Oh, and I'd love for him to get some more awards - this time for his TV and/or movie work. The same article that I found that Stephen Fry quote in also had this quote from Rufus about the awards he's won ... "As for his numerous theatre awards, 'I keep them on the shelves. I want to look at mine for a little while before I put them in the toilet. I always wanted to start getting awards so I could be nonchalant about them.' ” Here's hoping he can start getting blasé by getting a BAFTA or an Emmy for his very excellent Tom Builder.
